John 16:2-3
..."yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me." NKJV (Emphasis mine)
I was reading through the scriptures today and this verse immediately jumped out to me in light of Radical Islamic beliefs. :rolleyes
Is this scripture speaking to "end-time events" regarding Islam (for example) or am I taking this out of content? Thx in advance!

Islam has been killing Christians and nonbelievers for centuries, in the name of Allah, this nothing new for Isalm.

I'm not 100 0/0 sure but I believe that Jesus was talking about the soon to come destruction of Jerusalem by Rome in about 70 AD. Also the mass distruction of the Jews by many Roman leaders.

I may be mistaken, but I believe it has to do with the slaughter of Believers by the Antichrist and the Whore of Babylon during the Great Tribulation.

The verse says it will happen due to some not knowing the Father or Christ. It is one of those statements made about Christ, and then His followers. I don't believe it refers specifically to any group, but to the larger issue of evil hearts leading to a rejection God. This happens without repentance, so the less repentance occurs, the more evil is rampant. In that sense it could be considered an end times reference, in the broad sense, but in context, it seems more a warning to follwers of Christ to prepare for trial until Christ returns.

John 16
1"All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. 2They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. 3They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you. I did not tell you this at first because I was with you.
