I am teaching 4 kids this year. My daughters are doing great and don't need a lot of suppervision. They are 9th grade and 6th grade. My sons are a different story entirely. The oldest, 13, has some learning issues and had an IEP when he was in school. The middle school gave up on him last year which is why I pulled him out. My 8 yo son gave up on himself last year and refused to do much work. He's never done very well in school. So, I pulled him out this year as well. I have since discovered that they are both right brained learners and worksheets, workbooks, text books etc.. don't work with them. I'm having a very hard time coming up with creative things to do so they still learn what they need to. I don't have a lot of time so I like curriculum that is basically already set up. I would not win an award for being organized either so the easier the better. Do any of you have kids like this or have ideas to help me with them? I'm not willing to give up on them, just need some new ideas.

Yes, unit studies would be great for your boys. I don't what your learning but there are several unit studies that are already setup for use, all you have to do is get the necessary materials together, and start using it. My favorite is Learning Adventures. You will see me mention them quite a lot. I plan on using it next year with my child.

Unit studies aren't text books. You use real books for learning, and then there may be some fun, but not so complicated projects, they could do.
