Someone should really tell the liberal hippie wing nuts out there something along those lines. The evidence seems pretty overwhelming for a stupid majority. Prove it otherwise, individuals withstanding.

OWL wasn't being serious with that (the fact that even jokingly, there is a lot of truth to it says something about those folks). Most of us here know the difference and can differentiate between humor and serious intent to broadly categorize folks. I've put my own hair in dreads/corn rolls at one point and I might do it again someday soon.

42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot. 8 out of 10 people believe that 9 times out of 10.

The crazy mob folks who claim they represent the 99% are blowing smoke, anyone with half a brain can bear witness to the fact that they're lying. We're having fun with '99%'. You folks that are passing judgement on the intent and the heart of the fine folks of this forum are in danger yourselves of the same verse most so quickly bring out concerning the judging of others.

We are to practice some discernment. Our Lord Jesus tells us this as well. Pay mind to specs and logs in relation to your sin and their sin. Your eyes and their eyes.

+1

I personally like sweeping statements of others

Ease up, have a nice day, he was making a funny. I thought it was 99% Hysterical:pound

Just for the record, were you not at all amused by the other 1% or just indifferent?

In other news:

It seems that there are thieves among the OWS crowd (*gasp*, Who'da thunk it? :shocked). It seems that some protesters are finding some of their stuff missing, and the culprits are fellow OWS'ers. I'm posting a link to the New York Post, who is reporting this, but the comments section is linked to Facebook, so I'm really only posting the link to give proper credit to the source. While I haven't seen any profane comments, Facebook-linked comments are not always well-moderated. As an alternative, here are a few excerpts from the article:

Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops -- and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

At one point yesterday, Wyman and other volunteers briefly scuffled with a man who was standing near a park entrance with a pail calling out: “Donations! Donations!” -- and pocketing the cash people tossed in the bucket.

Now, on one hand, I have to confess to a certain amount of "fleshly" satisfaction about this (God, seriously, please forgive me), while on the other hand, what did they expect? Wouldn't you think they could just see this as part of the "redistribution" of wealth and property? After all, isn't that what they want?? No rules, no privately-held personal property, sharing the wealth with everybody??

I too feel satisfaction, as bad as that is. :sad But you can't bring a 5,500-dollar laptop to a hippie sit-in and expect not to have it stolen. :doh Doublethink at its finest. "Redistribute the wealth! No private property! No corporations! Hey, who took my Apple laptop? That's not right! That was mine! My parents bought it for me with the money they made from their stock in... Um, did I mention how evil corporations were?" :doh How much do you want to bet that the thefts will be blamed on Tea Party saboteurs sent in by Beck and Palin or something?

hmmm well the thieves are just practicing what occupy wall street preaches. I mean does it not belong to who ever wants it, and why do they have to pay for it because you don't really have to earn anything, everything you have should just be given to you, that makes everything fair Right. :scratch

Exactly -- and I'm SURE they didn't want to bother anyone by asking if they could have the stuff, so they just "liberated" it in the middle of the night instead of disturbing someone's sleep. :heh

You're jumping to conclusions here. :)

"Living in your parents' basement" is a reference to a segment of young people today who refuse to grow up and act responsibly by working and paying their own way.

Living this way is a deliberate act of rebellion which usually results in an angry, self-absorbed, perpetual adolescent who blames everyone else for his rotten life. They can be seen down at the local hippie stink fest telling reporters they don't know what they're protesting exactly but it must be something. :madgrin

Sorry Barb--I'm not jumping to conclusions despite your accusations to the contrary. If you would read Neil's prior posts in threads, in particular one he started in the Christian Discussion section, then you would know thast he was struggling with moving back home and breaking up with his gf. I only commented that a sweepng statement about 99% of people who live with parents agree with the OWS--although I understood the joke in it ( a joke started as a sarcastic jab by Ann Coulter)..Neil was genuinely hurt by it.

I agree that some should not feel that these jokes are directed at them, wear their feelings on their sleeves or even be "thin skinned" ( pick your favorite cliche) but at the same time, my light admonishment was well directed and completely based upon factual background of the individual in question--not a supposition or assumption on my part.......

Neil, your situation is not in line with the majority of folks who are protesting on wall street. It's completely unrelated by any stretch of the imagination. They're just not the same thing.

Because I've worn my hair in cornrolls, does not mean my worldview or sentiments resemble anything in common with regard to the folks on wall street who wear a somewhat similar style (though I assure you we didn't arrive at the look the same way... :heh)

The color red is often used by communists. That does not 'taint' that color. Red is red, communists don't have a corner market on colors (try as they might). I happen to like red shirts. Now if I showed up at the wall street protest in a red shirt and in dreads, what would you assume of me? Would that be an unreasonable assumption?

I'm sorry if you were hurt by anything I've said Neil. None of my comments nor the various lighthearted jokes made by the folks here in this thread concerning this particular topic, were directed at you or your personal situation specifically. I'm truly sorry you're struggling with what you're struggling with. I do recall your thread vaguely and I've found it looking for it.

Thank you for the heads up in that regard jackson64! Just the same, I hope you see what I'm trying to say as well. No one came into this thread trying to personally offend individuals, so much as this is a general commentary and observation of what a group of loonies is doing on wall street.

I've prayed for you Neil.
