However, the new Time reports that that socioeconomic mobility in the USA is now unlikely, and that even some European countries are ahead of the USA now.

The minute communism comes to the USA is the minute I emigrate to some other country. I lived in Beijing, China, and I want none of that! :ohno

:sad

Sign of the times. Between the fools who elected a Barrack Obama for their president, the 'leader' himself, and now his disenfranchised followers revolting in the streets, still unwilling to plainly admit it's themselves they have to blame for electing him in the first place rather then learning from their mistake...

It's not too surprising.

If we have to leave, I hear Canada's pretty nice! But that's a pipe dream. I couldn't afford such an adventure myself. If God sustains me through the coming disaster it's certainly enough or else that I should die, even better (Philippians 1:21)! Let it be for the testimony of my Lord and Savior I pray, or else quietly in the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though, here's to praying we avert such a train wreck just the same! :lol2

I know I'm not alone when I visit our fellowship here. So many wise folks, it's encouraging to be here. But even outside of our fellowship, there are plenty of smart folks in America who are standing up against OWS and this administration and these self-professed liberal socialists.

I want to believe this time around our people will wake up and get back on track. We're like a yo-yo it seems, 4-8 years of a conservative that messes up a bit, followed by 4-8 years of a liberal who completely trashes the place, then the conservative, the liberal...

Americans are very reactive sadly, not proactive. We only react to the immediate with no regard for what happens down the line. For this reason, many such reactive people will be in Hell because they saw no reason to take action concerning their eternal salvation just then at the moment.

Granted this is a generalization, forgive me. Certainly not all americans are like that. Certainly not the folks here! That's just a general observation of society in my little slice of the world.

Occupy Denver's General Assembly voted on a leader and chose a three-year-old border collie named Shelby to head the group.

I see they are moving up the food chain in leadership IQ.

Excellent! :thumb

These people are walking caricatures of humanity, and if it weren't observable, nobody in their right mind would believe it.

The Occupy thugs want to talk about the 99% vs the 1%? Fine. This man represents 99% of the Occupy people.

Is a Border Collie a step up or step down from a Golden Calf? :thinking

I suppose if they overcharged for their food it would be. Aside from that they employ thousands of people, give dividends to shareholders, and keep their suppliers in the black.

Greed? I don't see how, but success? :nod

For the record, I don't like McDonalds food.

If I had to pick one, I would go with the dog, it will usually come when you call. :idunno

In 100% agreement uh... almost (I like the McRib). I mentioned the irony because they seem to be protesting against Billion Dollar Corporations, yet are dependent on one of those Corporations for toilet services... :doh

From what I have heard, it isn't safe for women in occupy-land.

And it's sad, I spent my teen years in CA. I actually have a few values in common with "the left" - I believe it is important to support small local businesses, grow my own vegetables (organically), don't own or drive a car, use reusable tote bags, and try to take care of the environment God gave us, etc... I see it as good stewardship.

I also read "He who will not work, let him also not eat" and many other passages about the importance of a good work ethic and morals....something we do not have in common.

From what I read, we are all in for a MISERABLE winter. That'll run 'em off.
