“After speaking with many of them, I realize they are unemployable takers,” he said, asking that his name not be used. “They just want to be able to tell their friends, ‘Hey, I was there.’ "
Reminds me of old stoners who brag they were at Woodstock. Nothing new under the sun ......:whistle

So Portland (Oregon, not Maine) finally decided they had enough of the Occupy protestors and cleared them all out today. One of my Occupy Portland friends posted the following on Sam Adam's (Portland's Mayor) Facebook wall:
< mod edit - per posting rules, no quoting FB >
I found several funny thing about this:
1. Sam Adams isn't running for reelection this year, so he really has no reason to care about what others think.
2. < mod edit - He was cleared of the charges, no libel please.>
3. The whole Occupy site was becoming a home for the homeless and drug users anyhow, and Adams ordered it cleaned up because the whole place had become rather unsanitary.
While I do support Adam's decision to clean the place up, I'll never support the man himself. At least me and my Occupy friend have that in common. XD

No spreading libel, he was cleared of the charges. :nono
And nope, according to the news currently, some are still not leaving.
Ran, interesting that none of the friends you've mentioned are Christians. How do all your unsaved friends respond to your attempts to tell them about Jesus?

{Mod Snip} Mind your manners please {Mod Snip}
As for my attempts to talk to them about it, he shoots me down before I even mention it. Make any mention of Christianity, and he goes off the deep end. Sometimes, it feels like he tries to fit in insults against my beliefs anyway he can. His girlfriend's was more cordial about religion the last time I talked to her about it, but any influence I can exert in leading her to the right way pales in comparison to the influence he exerts. It doesn't help that she's been giving me the cold shoulder as of late. Unfortunately, I'm not really good at debating. The good news is that one of my Christian friends is, and I've let the two of them debate it out. It never goes anywhere. :\
This isn't even getting into how both of them are know-it-alls. You know the type I'm talking about, people who think they have the answers to everything and refuse to accept that they could be wrong about anything of significance. My friend is a self-proclaimed anarchist (not the type of anarchist you're thinking of. It's more a combination of extreme big government and libertarianism, if that makes any sense whatsoever). He's a huge supporters of Palestine (I know because of the "Support Palestine" sticker I remember seeing on his high school binder), thinks Che Guevara as a hero, and thinks that the USSR would've been paradise had Lenin not died. I've gotten so tired of his constant belief in his own self-righteousness that I don't really try much anymore. I just let him live in his own little bubble.
I do have a few Christian friends, but only one of them is someone I could truly describe as living his life for Christ. The others may be saved as well, but they sure don't act like it the majority of the time.
This is all about my high school friends mind you. I have a few friendships growing in college right now (mainly through my youth group).

NEW YORK —
Hundreds of police officers, some in riot gear, descended on Zuccotti Park after midnight Tuesday in a surprise sweep of the Occupy Wall Street headquarters.
Some protesters were chained to trees and each other but were removed from the park, which was cleared in less than three hours.
New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said there were about 70 arrests in the park, while NBC New York's Jonathan Dienst, who is at the scene, reported that he had counted 40 arrests along Broadway.
A few protesters, who appeared to resist and shove at officers, were then thrown to ground and placed in handcuffs, he reported.
One arrested person was taken to a local hospital for evaluation because of breathing problems, police said.
After being evicted, several hundred demonstrators regrouped in nearby Foley Square, telling msnbc.com they were planning their next move.

I know this is a double post, but apparently, the NYPD just cleared out Zucotti Park. Oakland also got their park cleared out. Very interesting to say the least.

Looks like the adults finally sprayed some insecticide on the "flea party"
Let's hope the authorities hold the line. What a blight they are on NY, and everywhere else the neo hippies are destroying the peace.

Last night I heard on my local news they were planning to march over bridges and go through the subways. I guess the mayor or whatever PTB have had enough.
Now I find out they were just clearing them out so the place could be cleaned up. :doh What are we their mommies? Of course some went to another park.
