for some odd reason, the wifi nic drivers on my laptop keep messing up. with y d link card, part of the driver caused the bsod then when my computer recovered it had to reinstall the drivers. i did a system restore which helped for a while. i finaly dug up an old linksys adapter and used that for some time, until it wouldnt connect to my router becaus it was out of range when it acctualy full signal. im thinking about wipeing my pc and start from scrach. what would you suggest?
right now in limeted to useing my mp3 player (archos 604wifi)to access the net, but there is no spell check or flash support.

win xp pro sp2, almost a year old.
d link dwl g650 wifi nic
linksys wusb11 usb wifi nic (802.11b)

Install Anticrash (http://www.dachshundsoftware.com/index.html) to see if it catches the problem.

I installed that Anti Crash program after I got the little Linksys adapter to work again. I don't think the program really dose all that much. I was typing something in Open Office when am information box from Anti crash popped up saying that Open Office had become unstable and that it was trying to fix it. I kept typing until I was really distracted by the information box and finally clicked on it to try to get rid of it. It opened Anti Crash which went through a 5 second process of stabilizing Open Office. What was the point of the information box?
I also downloaded a program called Hare from the same company. The whole time it was "optimizing the registry" and other things, there was very little HDD activity and Spy Bot didn't give me any warning messages saying that my registry had been modified.
Oh, well. It's almost time to wipe my computer anyway. I'm just trying to get it to last until my anti virus expires around Christmas. It's probably time to get a new computer too, the bearings in the fans are wearing out and making awful noises now and then.

You are referring to Town Patrol, just let it do it's thing and don't try to stop it.
Not sure about hare but anticrash will help plug memory leak errors, repair system errors and intercept BSOD, locate bad dll files and will optimize/ tweak your registry to reduce errors.
Go through it's settings to run AutoRepair and let it optimize your system.

I ran Auto Repair and it said that no errors were found. Then, I uninstalled the D Link drivers and reinstalled them. When I plugged my wireless card back in I still had the same problem. I ran Auto Repair again and it still said there were no problems. Oh well. It has managed to uncrash Filezilla when it started acting weird. Thanks for the the help Buzzardhut, I'll see if I can find any other solutions.
p.s. My linksys adapter started to work when I plugged it into a different port. I tried it with the D Link adapter and still had problems.

I think the problem might be the card its self. It won't work no matter what I do. I'm going to try to get a new card, hopefully an internal one.
