So I was passing through Amsterdam airport last week, landed up at 6 am at Schipol and had a 3 hour wait for the connecting flight.

In those two hours, I saw the same scene repeated over and over - folks from the US strolling into the airport shops and doing a double take when they found out just how much their dollars were worth. I saw one couple back away from buying some stuff once they found how many dollars they'd have to shell out. The sales lady sounded rather apologetic while explaining that the old dollar simply isn't what it used to be.

Such a scene would have been unthinkable a few years ago. I had last been here in 2000, and back then a dollar was on par with the new fangled euro, if not worth more? :idunno

The NAU is the only way out of this mess I'm sorry to say.

Interesting.....I'll stay in the US, thank you. No desire to travel abroad anyway, unless it would be to the Holy Land.

The NAU is not a way out a mess. It is merely the way into a different one.

SumSam, thank you for your "hands on" report.
