Up until this year (4th grade for ds) we have used Learning Language Arts Through Literature and loved it. My ds is a reluctant reader and he really responded well to this.

However, this year I am not loving it so much. We are using the Orange Book.

*Very weak on spelling so we are using Sequential Spelling (which I LOVE)
*Vocab is non-existant
*grammer is almost non-existant (we now use DAily Grams :thumb )
*For the next several weeks they have them making a time capsule. Today the only thing he had to do was make a sign for the door to his room. :twitch Tomorrow they want him to make a map of his room :twitch Next week from Tuesday to Friday the only thing they have assigned for him to do is take pictures of his family, friends and favorite things to put in his time capsule. :hehee 4 days worth of nothing! :tsk

So, I am thinking we need to switch to something else. What do you guys use and recommend.

I found this while looking for reviews on grammar programs. It looks very good, is inexpensive, and user friendly. I think I'm going to purchase it for next year.

All the reviews I could find on it were good. I couldn't find anything bad about it, and it's supposed to be a full grammar program, better than Daily Grams or Easy Grammar.

I use Easy Grammar -- by Wanda C. Philips -- I also have the Daily grams for the days i don't want to do to much. We have used this since 3rd grade, and he likes it.

Hope that helps!

NWO -- this grammar looks good! Might have to check this out for my younger two..

When do most introduce grammar to there kids'??? My dd isn't reading on her own just yet -- and it seems if i remember correctly my son was at her age, so it was easy to incorporate it into our studies.

dd -8 - 2nd grad
ds- 7 - 1st grade
ds - 13 - 8th grade
