Of course, because he was standing there. Jesus did give them an answer:
Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And they understood this command, and fulfilled it.

--------That was not about setting up a physical kingdom, but a spiritual one Jesus said when my kingdom is of this world my servants will fight, they werent so its not about a physcial kingdom. No physical kingdom without the King there physically.

They wanted to know about the physical He said its not for them to know when. Then He said Spritually though the Spirit will come upon you at Jerusalem. When His kingdom is of this world His servants fight, not before.
