Was listening to some preacher on television tonight.
He was talking that ONLY half the world has heard the gospel.
I thought we were closer than that, to almost all of the world having heard the gospel.
Jesus said that the gospel would be preached to all the world then the end would come.
Is this supposed to happen before the rapture or after?
I may be confused on the timelines.
Anyone want to TeachMe something about this??

Don't mean to bag on the preacher, but I don't see how an even remotely accurate conclusion could be drawn on this one.
Just my $0.02 worth.:)
Will be before the rapture. Will be ignored by most just like when Noah warned of the coming flood.

I just googled percentage of Christians in the world and there's an estimate of about 2.1 billion.
And the world population is about 6.6 billion, as of July, this year.
But I would STILL think, tho, that a large part of the world that is not Christian would still have heard the name of Jesus.
This preacher said that half of the world has not even heard about Jesus, period. Not EVEN heard His name spoken.

It's closer to a third. There is a missions ministry that my ministry shares a building with. They are called Innovative Missions Opportunities and literally are on a mission to take the gospel to all parts of the world.
At the bottom of this page it mentions the almost third:

This is an intestersting link about where they go, with some stats:

It's an awesome ministry. I was asked yesterday if I wanted to go to Yemen... gulp!

What was his name?
I don't know. I was just surfing thru the channels and saw a preacher. So I listened to him for a few minutes.
That's not my usual Christian TV station that I watch.

While it's true the Bible says that the Gospel would be preached to the whole world, and then the end would come, that (IMHO) is referring to the 2nd Coming of Christ with his Bride (the Church) at the end of the Trib back to the earth, and NOT the Rapture. The entire earth DOES hear the Gospel :scripture before this happens, if you read Revelation 14:6 'Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people.'
It's at that point that the entire earth....every nation, tribe, language and people hear the Good News (Gospel) proclaimed. So in my study, it's not necessary for the entire world to hear the Gospel before the Rapture, but they'll hear the Gospel BEFORE the Second Coming 7yrs later! :thumb

Ya, I was pondering the same avenue of study (rev 14-6). Just wonder why, would God hurl judgements on people without warning them of their choice to choose him now. There are also a predetermined number that will choose Him now, so it would probably real easy to overlap this into an issue of free-will, and predestination. We know that in God's view the two exist together.
Interesting topic, but just a rabbit trail.:)

I agree.....when the Rapture takes place, people will become informed very quickly. With today's internet, and media the disappearance of so many will not be kept quiet, and the good news of Christ will finally be proven true.
