View Full Version : Making sense?: Why Renown Leaders are Falling for Contemplative Spirituality

It has been puzzling me for a while why so many well-known, well-respected Christian leaders were being lulled into the Contemplative Prayer movement... but from a prophetic perspective, it seems it is all finally starting to make more sense to me.

I was just reading a thread in Prophecy & End Times Chat about the UN-backed AoC (Alliance of Civilizations) and its global drive to eliminate religious extremists by re-educating the world population of their view: that no religion holds all truth.

One of the recommendations they outline for accomplishing this is getting governments to convene representatives of "major faith traditions" (religious leaders, religious scholars, etc.) to establish educational materials and websites that "provide interpretations of religious history and scripture that challenge exclusivist approaches" to faith.

It finally struck me that in order for the great falling away to occur, there need to be some key 'Christian' figures leading the way.... and the mystical Contemplative Prayer movement provides the avenue for slowly drawing Christians away from dependence on Scripture, and into a spiritual realm that leaves them believing all roads lead to God.

And doesn't George Bush's recent statement about all faiths praying to the same God just fit right in!

Amazing!

I may be wrong, but I believe that it is possible that Pastors are more tempted then the rest of us to be led astray. My uncle was a Pastor and so was my ex-brother in law. Pastors can get caught up in doing so much work for God that they neglect their own Bible Study and prayer time. We can become so busy doing work that we are like Martha and forget to spend time with Jesus.
Of course this could be just from my perspective. This seem to be the case with my brother in law on the other hand my Uncle was still leading souls to Christ from his hospital bed as he laid dying from cancer of the brain. Even in the last days he would sing hymns to God and praying for those in the hospital ward with him. I think we should pray for our Pastors and other Pastors that God will give them strength to resist this WOF, Seeker movements and others that would cause a Pastor to stumble.

The problem is that their are too many Pastors in it for the wrong reasons from the get go. Many are not called to pastor and some others are just in it for a career or financial opportunity for material gain.

We are no more tempted then the rest. We may be tried and tested more because of our calling and responsibility to preach the gospel.
