Savoury Vegetable Slice.....ingredients are eggs, cream, cheese, bacon, grated zucchini, grated carrot, schallots and corn kernels. Yummo! Served with green salad.

Chocolate Bavarian with ice cream for dessert.

Daughter is coming over for dinner tonight - she loves the menu!

Hi Sydney,
Your slice sounds good - kind of like a vegetable quiche. Does it have a crust?
Are you from Sydney, Australia by chance?

DH birthday is today so I'm making one of his favorites tonight - lasagna!

Nuppo, to first question - it could be made with a crust like a quiche, though. I am just too lazy to bother with that!

Nuppo, to second question too - I'm not from Sydney but I am from the Gold Coast, Australia. The name Sydney Spider was first given to a large Huntsman spider that lived next to the flourescent light in the kitchen for a brief time when I was a child. My mother named it because it scared me somewhat, saying "Oh, that's just Syd!" Poor Syd eventually went to the big web in the sky when he became so enormous from feeding on the insects attracted to the flouro light, that Mum finally decided it was time for him to go via a burst of insect spray.

I also used to pretend that my hand was 'Sydney Spider' to amuse my youngest child (she's now 20). Sydney Spider would appear at bedtime for a tickle and a funny conversation before scuttling under her bed where he lived, and she didn't seem to be bothered that he only had five legs instead of eight.

So that is the history of the name (except these days it's a she instead of a he!).

What a great story, Sydney! Maybe you should be a childrens' author.

So that we're not "off topic" :shocked , what are you planning for your next evening meal?

Hubby's not home for dinner tonight so I think I'll tuck into a frozen dinner - Veal Cordon Bleu.

Anybody have any good ideas of what to do with zucchini? I have never cooked it much other than a stir-fry and I'm just baffled with it. I don't like a lot of tomatoes and a lot of the recipes I see call for tomatoes.

Zucchini is really good grilled also. Yum.
