Tall, I was going to ask you if you marinated or soaked it in salt water. My mother used to make the best southern fried chicken I ever ate. She didn't marinate it but she did soak it in salt water(cut up) in the refridgerator overnight. According to my dad who had been a cook for the VA early in his life this got all the blood out of the chicken and also gave the meat itself a good flavor. In a lot of fried chicken the flavor just seems to be in the breading. I have never been able to make good fried chicken so I just gave up. Yours sounds like a good marinade recipe.
MsSophie, the fried chicken turned out okay, but I've had better. The wife liked it a lot, the kids told me the other ways I prepare chicken are better... I liked it but it didn't fill that delicious southern fried chicken place inside us that needs filling from time to time. ;) I'll try another recipe next time.
Tonight we're having leftovers.
