This is my recipe for beef stroganoff, I adjust it for chicken sometimes.
Brown in 2 tablespoons of oil, 2 pounds of beef chuck roast or round steak or rump roast.
cut up into chunks and dredged in a combination of 6 tablespoons flour, 1 1/2 tsps. salt. 1/4 tsp pepper.
while browning add about 1 cup chopped onion. add 1 cup of tomato juice and 1 1/2 cup liquid usually a beef stock or broth. Simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours until meat is tender.
add 8 oz package of sliced and clean mushrooms thicken with a little flour then fold in 8 oz of sour cream and serve over noodles.

Sandy, that sounds like one I used to make. I just don't have the patience to make it any more. Plus, doesn't like to eat beef so I have to use ground turkey most of the time in recipes that call for beef.

That sounds good. Sometimes the simple things in life are the best. A good cold glass of sweet tea would make it perfect.

I neglected to pull anything out to thaw this morning, so I think I'm just gonna look on the shelf and see if we've got any cans of any kind of soup... and I'll serve that, doctored up just a little bit.

That's probably why I don't make it very often. If I switched to using ground meat it would save a few hours of cooking time. I usually plan projects like that for when I'm going to be home anyway. My DH has been wanting me to make Hungarian Goulash again and it's about the same cooking time when I have to cook the meat for a few hours.

Now that sounds like a great meal, I need to make brats again real soon and with potato salad and strawberry shortcake sounds really yummy.

I need to make that soon. It's another one of those dishes I used to make when DH and I were first married before he decided he wanted to eat less beef.
Do you have a recipe for it?-
We had one of Hootman's favorites tonight - fried crappies, baked potatoes and steamed asparagus.
