We've been feeding our older son. He said he hasn't had cornbread and fried okra since he got married and he would love to have it again. So, I made cornbread, fried some okra and cooked a pot of pinto beans. We also had fresh tomatoes from the garden.

We had spaghetti with meat sauce, and garlic toast. My daughter Angie, son Michael, grandson Xander, and granddaughter Raven came for dinner. We had a wonderful visit. Xander's 5th birthday party was on Aug 21st at the park. :yeah

I don't know how to describe the flavor. You'd have to taste it yourself. I don't often fry foods, but fried okra is the only kind I like. I place the sliced okra in a bowl, sprinkle a miniscule amount of flour on it and then I sprinkle a lot of corn meal on it, kind of toss it to coat it a nd then I fry it. We think it's delicious, but we grew up eating it. It's a southern dish and my husband is from Tennessee and my family is from Mississippi. :hug

Tonight it should be only my husband and me, as our son will be attending counseling and church. We'll have grilled pork chops, sweet corn, tossed salad and peaches.
