Here is a poem that I wrote the morning after I had a dream that was (I think) a rapture dream.
Wedding in a War
There is going to be a wedding
in the middle of a war
The bride adorns her wedding gown
while others find their swords.
Maidens garner flowers
tie ribbons made of silk
outside sounds of crashing,
mahem, and other ilk.
The gown is made of satin,
ivory and pearls
outside is war in the making
as treachery unfurls.
What mystery, what amazement
that peace is in this room!
when all around is misery, chaos
and full scale war in bloom.
The bride appears happy
with a far distant look on her face
carries out her duties
with an air of beauty and grace.
Who is her bridegroom?
What is His name?
Where did He come from?
And where will they go?
Her hair is weaved in flowers
of periwinkle blue
mixed in with ivory, pearls
and diamonds too.
Weaved intricately in rows
parted by jewels
the strands of hair tied tightly
with ivory and bows.
She's almost ready
It's coming to a close
The Bridegroom's in the waiting
To come and get His rose.
All around is heavy
Air filled with signs of war
The world is not coming to the wedding
They can't get though the door.
