I am looking for something unique. Here is the story: I am throwing a baby shower for a woman I work with. This is her first baby and her and her husband has decided to not find out the gender of the baby until the birth. She really doesn't want any particular theme for her baby's room, except no Pooh Bear. The baby shower colors (at her request) are red and white. I will be making the cake.

Now this is kinda hard as this is going to be one of three baby showers she will be having. So I know she will be getting alot of twos and threes of things and I want to get something unique that no one else will get her.

Please ladies, some ideas or websites (if that is allowed?) of some things I could consider that is unisex.

Thank you so much, the baby shower is set to be around the 1st of December, no definate date yet, but I have that long to figure something out.

God bless,
Steffie

A small gift for the baby and then something for mom, like a manicure/spa certificate. Or nice bath stuff - something that will be for her amidst all of the stuff for baby. Something that will make her feel good/beautiful. If you are close, a gift of a night out - you babysit. Again, if you are friends, a promise (make it into a nice certificate) of an afternoon out when she is ready - you know, life Panera Bread or whatever. Just thinking here......

Gift certificates to use after the baby is born are always nice. Certificates for a photography studio and a picture frame are nice. One of those covers to put over the carseat so the baby doesn't have to be stuffed into a snow suit are wonderful. Red, black, & white crib mobile, her nursery theme is red & white correct? A crib mirror. A white wicker laundry basket for the baby's room and Dreft. There is a magazine called One Step Ahead that carries neat baby items.

Gift cards are nice.

My favorite gift was one from 2 neighbors. They got together and gave me a huge box of stuff. It was filled with baby shampoo, baby tylenol, baby powder, lotion, wipes, washcloths, onesies and diapers in several sizes. Which was nice because when my son outgrew diapers mid pack I had a backup. Everything was store brand but I used them up!! There was so much more in that box, but it was very nice.

Does she have a registry?

Sometimes, having doubles of some things are good.

When my BFF had her first daughter, she got two playpens. She didn't count on having two, but ended up leaving one at her parents house. She did this with a lot of stuff and saved her from having to cart things back and forth to grandma's house.

My in-laws have a crib at their house for the babies, as well as a car seat in one of their cars. With all the kids, it was a good idea and saves hauling things back and forth.

So true. My mom had a bed, highchair, and a playpen. She even had bottles, formula and sippycups. It was really nice for when I was visiting (ok so I did that often..LOL) After awhile I just down the same road. But now I am 9 hours awayhttp://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/traurig/a025.gif

You know, if this is the first grandchild and the parents live close wouldn't that be a fun gift to give each grandmother!!!

Do you have a talent at making stuff? I crochet, so every baby gift I give has a handmade original blanket. I really like the ideas for mom though. If you know her size, and she's gonna nurse, nursing tops, or nightgowns are nice.
Or a coupon book of time gifts, like kids can do for parents. Inexpensive, and unique. Sometimes your time to help with dishes or housework, or shopping, is more of a blessing than a material gift.

For the baby shower, a blessing book, where the guests write out prayers or blessing wishes for the new baby.

If the people are into scrapbooking, they could make up a scrapbook that she could add pic's to later, I did this at a wedding shower, and it was fun, not like the usual silly games!
