GAAHHHHHH!!!!!

I hate it so much! Porn absolutly RUINED my mind!! Beyond what it used to be, thats for sure. Im on the slow path of recovery now, but man, its a lot easier to keep terrible images and thoughts out of your head when you havent exposed yourself to hours apon hours of this filth!

Lord's the only reason im able to somewhat controle myself now. When you have temptation, even a thought, scream! Not out loud, but scream in your head, LEAVE! Or pray until its gone, I know its the harrdest thing in the world to do but we HAVE to do it! It is our destiny to overcome this temptation as children of God and He certainly gives us the power to do so.

You have to catch it when it starts though, once you go along with it and your mind starts running rampant, its all downhill from there. Not that its impossible to all the sudden snap out of it, but its unlikely from my experience. After your mind goes crazy, you can sit there cursing yourself, while looking for the next stimulating image, gahhhh, its so depraved!!!

Another thing about it, your opening yourself to very powerful demons. I have no doubt, we need to excercize extreme caution with this, once you make them leave and go back to it, they will come back with more, and stronger ones! Making your next state worse then the last.

One time I wrote down, leave me in the name of the Lord Jesus! So that the demon could read it, I wrote he had no power over me and honestly I think it really did something. We certainly dont like to think demons may be influencing us in any way, but I believe its a lot more promenant then we think.

Also, you are spilling your seed. I know this may sound kind of analitical, but i've been convicted on killing genetic children of mine, children that essentially, could have been, or at least half of one, containing all my traits!! And they're all different, it just kills me to think of the combonations of children, that'll never be made again, i've destroyed! For what? Instant gratification? We need to keep our eyes on the true treasure here, our true gratification.

I felt like a rapist and certainly an adulterer, a depraved man at absolute spiritual ruin, transgressing the love of my possible future wife, the love of the woman involved in porn, the love of the self (that is not self seeking) and through these things, 3 times transgressing the love of the Father.

Keep strong in Him brothers! We all fight this battle. He's given us a spirit of love, power, and of self controle.

EDIT* Remember, it is a worthy battle. Sometimes I would reduce its significants, dont fall victim of the same. And being children of God, chosen by Him since before the beginning, eternally, He will bring us to overcome. Dont lose faith, His work will show through you.

Wow! Somebody who really speaks their mind and how it really goes! Im not much younger than you...about 2 years. And I can totally relate! It seems like it can literally shoot its hand out and grab you. Anyways, Im glad you said it quite bluntly!

Ok, I'm going to have to disagree with you a little here. Spilling your seed?? You know that there's billions of sperm in every ejaculation right? Even if every single time a man had physical relations with a woman ended up in conceiving, you are still "wasting" 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of your "seed"

Sperm cells are just that, cells. They are like skin cells. You know that skin cells fall off ya by the billions too right? and live ones at that lol.

Sorry to go off tangent here as the rest of your post had some good points, but I had to speak up against this Catholic influenced "spilling of your seed" thing.

Analitical and nitpicking, and over a certain period of time, it is re-assimulated (sp?) into the body. BUT, I still cant help but think of the multitude of genetic variations lost, at least if my bodys doing it naturaly im not reminded. Yeah, it was a little off base, not compelling at all, but for whatever reason it still bothers me. Honestly, I thought about 3 or 4 times to come back to raptureready boards and logging in just to edit and delet that part... but I ended up leaving it.

Thanks Surafel :) Its been a long, difficult road and this is certainly a broad road i've treaded. I just couldnt pretend it didnt ever (and still wasnt) attacking me. I've gained new strength through this though, it really helps a lot confessing and not battleing a secret within only you and the Lord know. Its tough, but with God, nothing is impossible.

If you really think about it too, having controle over yourself is one of the most desirable things, even in the secular world. Although they may front and act like any man is crazy for not masturbating and jumping on any occasion for sex, they atleast know they've made serious mistakes in their life that could have been avoided only exerting self controle. The more experienced ones that is. The traits the Lord gives us is truly desired by the lost, wether they belive it or not. What they want is to say they have gained these traits themselfs and are "wise masters" but with man, nothing is possible. Try as they might to escape the depravity, they will always fail or jump to a new outlet in which to fail and gain from experience, that they were wrong, Lord willing that they see their error.

It is a most worthy battle

I work in an office with an atheist. It's not easy, but we have our jobs to do so we put our beliefs aside when we're on the clock. Anyway, He orders the Penthouse and Forum books for him and his wife all the time (I know this because I've had to complete the orders, since at that point, he's technically a customer). He's been married for 20 years with no problems whatsoever (no cheating, etc.).

My thoughts about his beliefs (or lack of) aside, my question is, if this atheist, who refuses to listen to His message can view pornography freely and still have a stable relationship, then why do those who follow God, living every day in His presense, have so much trouble?

Once again, I don't condone, neither my coworker's beliefs or pornography. I'm just observing that he and his wife view it freely in their homes, but still have a happy marriage. Yet, I've read that people on this board flip out over the very images. They are not supernatural. They're books, videos, etc.

I'm not saying I'm some kind of superhuman; I'm a humble follower just like everyone else here. I'm also not saying that resisting the urges is easy. But nothing in life is easy. You show your faith in God when you show you're strong enough to resist those urges, not when you run screaming from them.

Satan exists when you fear (or worse, act on your urges). I don't allow any of it in my house because it's filth, not because I'm scared of it.

Stop making excuses and start taking responsibility for yourself before you let Satan win over petty books and images.

Stop making excuses and start taking responsibility for yourself before you let Satan win over petty books and images. It would be a blessing if your athiest friend ruined his life over porn if it brought him to realize he's sinning and comes to the Lord. Also, if the wife and husband are both just as into porn, then how could it ever be viewed as a problem to them? Unless they found it tough to keep it away from their kids, in which case it sounds like they'd probably believe it was only "natural" anyway :(

Porn can easily bring a lot of adversity in a christians life, single or married, but especially when married and your wife knows your not supposed to be doing it. That alone brings a pretty big struggle.

I dont think any of us fear porn. I dont go running for the hills every time I see a sexual image, neither do any of us here. But if a man does he just knows thats whats required for him at the time and bless him. Oh certainly we do not fear porn, but He who casts judgement!

If your eye causes you to sin, it would be better to pluck it out and enter heaven with one eye then to burn with both, eternaly, in hell.

I say it would be unwise not to flee temptation and give it a second thought, even just to see if you can resist it. What do we pray? For the Lord to deliver us from temptation. But your right, He wont ever allow us to be tempted by something we cant overcome, that doesnt mean, however, we wont be tempted by something we will not overcome. Some people find it absolutly necessary to buy content filters, to sign up with accountability partners and if it works, bless them! They only do it because they've tried and failed more then enough times to know, they are simply weak at this point and this is what is required for the time. We know to continue always praying for faith and strength and wisdom in Him and to apply these things to our lives, every believer has a different road though and the Lord will correct our unrepentant ways in varying time.

For the record, he's not a friend, just a coworker. We get along at work but don't associate off the clock. I don't agree with his beliefs or lack of belief, but I don't wish him any harm. He's a nice guy, and his marriage is working well so I hope it continues that way.

Im sorry for the mix up :doh and of course I dont wish any harm to your co-workers marriage, only pointing out he would be blessed to endure adversity due to his error (sin) and see it for what it truly is and turned to the Lord. Thats a pretty specific occasion, I know, but adversity due to our sin is not necessarily a bad thing. The Lord only allows it for our continued growth in Him, this is why porn will bring such adversity especially in a christian marriage. You were wondering why christians have a hard time coping, living with this sin, and it causing so much distress in our lives. Its because the Lord loves us and will do exactly what it takes for us to see our error and repent. Even if it means allowing you to tear apart your family.
