Hello all,

I hope this is in the right section. Has anyone here at RR been set free from internet pornography completely? Is it possible, without relapses? I've seen all the "steps" that have been mentioned to break free (filters, accountability, etc), and I wonder if anyone can offer advice on what works and what doesn't.

Thank you for any help you can offer and for any prayers you can give as well.

I have been porn free for 6 months now!!!! Praise the Lord!!! To be honest, with me, it was a breaking point. I got to where I had to tell my wife what I was doing and it devastated her. I almost thought she was going to ask for a divorce. But by God's grace she didn't and she forgave me. This had happened several times and I just had enough. For me, I just decided I didn't want to look at that stuff anymore period, ever again. And with the Lord's enablement, I am 6 months into that journey.

Now, I do subscribe to Covenant Eyes accountability software that one guy and my wife gets a report from each month of what I am looking at. That helps a lot but really too, you have to honestly and truly want to get away from that *stuff*! Then, only with the Lord's power behind you, can you truly walk in victory!

That's my story anyway...along with many others here I see.

This is what works according to the Bible:

If you are single: Get married.

1 Corinthians 7 (King James Version)

2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

Matthew 19 (King James Version)

10. His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

11. But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given

12. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

What if you are married? Then you have to do the following:

Ephesians 5:25 (King James Version)

25. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

1 Corinthians 7:(King James Version)

5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

That's it. There's no magical solutions. For those single people that were blessed with being born eunuchs or are in happy marriages it might be easy.

I have covenant eyes on my computer and my wife's computer. I'm very lucky, my wife is very supportive in my fight. Right now, it has been about 2 weeks since my last slip, praise the Lord! Considering I culdn't go 2 hours let alone 2 weeks without porn just a couple of years ago, I am doing great! Before I came to Christ I tried to fill my void with sex and porn.

My best advice is to spend more and more time with Jesus. When you are with Him, you don't need or want porn. Learn how to be still and let Jesus talk to you. The times I slip are because I won't let Jesus in. However, because of His grace, He helps me to start again and take it one day at a time.

For the rest of us, we could do SettingCaptivesFree seminars 'till the cows come home, and we will still fall.

Have now been free from this addiction for almost 6 months (after 25 plus years of addiction) and currently mentoring two friends through settingcaptivesfree. I can say that one will not make it and the other one will. The difference is one is giving his life over to Christ and the other says he is, but I can tell in his daily responses he has not truly trusted in Christ. I honestly believe that if you COMPLETLY trust in Christ and truly want to beat this it will work 100% of the time!

With Christ how can you fail?

I tried to PM you but wasn't allowed to because I don't have enough posts. Could you, kermyjo, give me more info on this "settingcaptivesfree"? (I'm sorry if you did earlier in this thread as I haven't read the whole thing).

I would love to help you with any questions you have about www.settingcaptivesfree.com I will tell you I have nothing to do with the website other than I completed the course and it saved me from years of pain and shame. I should say it brought me closer to Jesus and his living water!
In a nut shell, you sign up on the website for a 60 day, daily course that you complete at your own time. I think it took me like 70 days to get through the course with vacation ect.
The course is 100% Christ based and they will assign you a mentor on line who will be copied on all your lessons and help you. You can also send your lessons to your own mentors if you like. Like I was saying in my post I have 2 men from my church group that I mentor too now.
If you are sick of this as I can only guess you are! And your 100% ready to end it, not 95% because if your not truly ready to do what you have to do and give it ALL to Christ you will fail. Only through Christ will you beat this addiction or any other.
I would be happy to help you any way I can.
I went through a roller coaster of emotions taking this course. After only 3 days I fell to my knees completely broken before my Lord. I confessed all to him and too my wife and started to heal for the first time. I amputated all access to anything that would make me fall. I had my wife install safe eyes on all our computers and only she has the passwords.
I now just have a passion for telling others about this and leading them to breaking free from addiction.
I will pray for you my friend!
I am posting this to your e-mail through raptureready as well so you can reply to me in private if you so wish.

Ahhh, because Christ himself told us that we must accept what was given to us? If he hasn't given us the gift of celibacy, then we cannot control our passions on our own and it is better to marry. If you are married and going to porn, you need to find out WHY that is (is the wife not attractive? personal problems? she's refusing intimacy?)

If you are married and going to porn, you need to find out WHY that is (is the wife not attractive? personal problems? she's refusing intimacy?)

And yet we have free will which was given to us by God. Even Satan has free will, and he will use it against the follower of Christ. It is only when you put your full faith in Jesus that he will shield you completely.

Only after I put full faith in Christ was I able to completely remove all things that would tempt me. I had tried for years to rid myself of porn or access to it. I always considered myself a follower of Christ and yet I had this addiction. Not until my eyes were completely opened and I put my full faith and I mean FULL faith in Christ did I finally break free.

At the end of the day I still am tempted I am a man, yet I feel the power of his love with me during times of temptation. Not for my glory but for his!
