My preacher says he does not have a problem with it because it is only destructive if you do not have an understanding spouse. I just avoid it because if you become addicted you can end up wasting a lot of time on it. I'm a busy guy so I don't have time for it. That and I don't have my own internet:aha

''It is a sin. You might want to think about another preacher.

Best addvice I've heard so far, and practical too:thumbBeen there. Done that.

Ive only downloaded new stuff oncein a couple years. Deleted it within a week. Its remains gone even though I know where to get it.

I encourage anyone who has a 'stash', whether it be on the computer, or hidden somehwere where 'no one will find it'...

...think about what wil happen if someone does find it...

...consequences...

I can attest to this. My wife did find my porn on our computer shortly after we were married 8.5 years ago (after a sermon by our pastor about internet porn and how to check computer histories/caches, in fact). It almost destroyed our marriage. We stuck through it, though. Sadly, I don't think many other people who have had that happen can say that. I think porn has broken up a lot of marriages.

Thank you all for your encouragement and for sharing your story with this. One question I have....if any of you have told your spouse about your struggles, HOW did you do it? I am so scared that I could ruin things, yet I know it may be the best thing for me and may help me end the desire. Thank you again for all your help!

From my list back here (http://rr-bb.com/showpost.php?p=305484&postcount=27), #6 is the one that always has gotten me in trouble, especially after some time has passed.

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." --Matthew 26:41

Words to take to heart in this matter!

You can have freedom from any sin through Jesus Christ, as He gives the power and strength to live right day to day. As others mentioned, having accountability partners, and other men that can check-in with you is a big help with this particular sin.

Jesus shows in Matthew 5 to deal with your own sin drastically, while thinking about your soul and eternity. It is a serious subject. Proverbs shows the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, and to fear Him is to hate sin, that which is evil. Do you realize His holy eyes see everything? Do you fear Him?

When you look at a person across the room, the only reason you can see them is because light bounces off them, and reaches your opticals (eyes). Every reaction you make is recorded on a light beam. God created light, and His eyes can see everything (lit or unlit). Do you get my point?!

Pornography is usually one of those "secret sins" that bloom easily in the dark -- justified in the mind, but clicked-off the minute the wife and kids get home, showing the true shame involved. Quietly, it brings a man down, and reduces him.

If sin wasn't pleasurable to our flesh, than it wouldn't be tempting. So, when you first take steps to cut off sin, it can be quite a change. However, as you walk in Him, and reverance Him, and resist your flesh and the devil, you realize that He truly did come to set the captive free and give life in abundance -- with a light and easy yoke (verses living with the heavy chains of sin).

Yup, what we do in secret won't be secret, so imagine the angels that are watching and God. If you wouldn't do it infront of loved ones or televised infront of a jumbotron don't do it in secret, Thought and deed.

LUKE 8:17
For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.

I am asking you, my serious prayer warrior friend, to join with me in prayer against something I discovered on our computer yesterday. The children (boys) have been watching Naruto videos on tv and on various computers (including mine!), and although they have not found what I found (yet), it is bound to happen.

Apparently Naruto is identified as Japanese demons that take over babies. It is VERY violent with knives and blood, and on youtube there are pornographic videos set to horrible Marilyn Manson songs in the background with every graphic cuss word you can imagine. The music and the videos have constant flashes of pornographic and graphic violence with a lot of knives, children & blood. AND NARUTO changes back and forth between a boy and a girl in a bikini, and many people comment that they are also promoting homosexuality. You will be so repulsed by the violence/porn it that you won't want your child to ever see it, but somehow our boys and their friends have found it and were watching it and taping it. Google or youtube “Naruto Marilyn Manson” if you don’t believe me. Any kids with access to the TV or the internet can see this stuff.

Please join me in prayer against this assault on our children. Many adults I’ve talked with don’t even realize the dangers, even my dad said to me last night, “it’s ok to watch, how bad can a kids cartoon be”?

Bad, really bad, Dad.

Lord, please guard our children’s hearts and defeat this assault on their morality, their sexual identity and their spirit. Come, Jesus, Come!

So is masturbation a sin?...because men have been watching porn and masturbating since the beggining of time......

While the Bible doesn't explicitly mention masturbation, I'm inclined to say that biblically, it is. When it comes to sex in the Bible, what do we see? The promotion of marital oneness both spiritually and physically (i.e. sex) and the condemnation of everything else whether it's mentioned (i.e. homosexuality) or not. Masturbation is centered on oneself and plays no part of marital oneness.
