ATTENTION
king herod was a vicious man, known more for his
murderous outbursts than for his administrative ability.
when he heard that a rival king had been born in
bethlehem of judea, called jesus, the king of the jews it
drove him almost insane. in order to eliminate his rival, he
commanded the slaughter of all male infants under the age
of two. the mothers of israel wept for their children, and
rachael could not be comforted because they were not.
another insane murderous man in dunblane left many broken
hearted parents, when he slaughtered sixteen of their children.
the children went to school and in a moment of time they were
in the kingdom of heaven. my friend you may have lost a little
one at birth, or as the result of an illness or an accident and
your heart still bleeds and breaks for them. the children cannot
come back to you or the parents in dunblane, but you can go
to them, you can live in the hope of meeting your loved ones
again, if you trust in the lord jesus christ, the son of god as
your saviour. he died on the cross to give you access to the
kingdom of heaven, but you will never enter it unless you are
born again. jesus said except a man be born again, he cannot
see the kingdom of god. a farmer wanted to move his sheep
over a fast flowing river, they were reluctant to go, so he took
a little lamb across and left it on the other side and it was not
long before all the sheep were on the other side. my friend will
you accept jesus as your saviour now? and live with anticipation
of the joy that is before you with these words;

joyful, joyful will the meeting be
when from sin, our hearts are pure and free.
and we shall gather saviour with thee,
in our eternal home.

luke 18 commencing to read at verse 10. two men went up
into the temple to pray; the one a pharisee and the other
a publican. the pharisee stood and thus prayed with himself.
god, i thank thee, i am not as other men are, extortioners,
unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. i fast twice in
the week, i give tithes of all those i possess and the publican
standing afar off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto
heaven, but smote upon his breast. saying god be merciful
to me a sinner, i tell you this man went down to his house
justified rather than the other, for everyone that exalteth
himself shall be abased and he that humbleth himself shall
be exalted. my friend the pharisee commendeth himself on
his own good works, but good works will never take you to
heaven. the bible says all your good works are as filthy rags.
the publican realized that he was a sinner in gods eyes and
that his sins needed to be forgiven and thus from his lips
there came that cry for mercy, and we are told that he went
to his house justified. my friend jesus died that we might be
forgiven. he died to make us good, that we might go at last to
heaven, saved by his precious blood.
