How hard is it to NOT get caught up in the popularity, fame and riches when you become a successful preacher/speaker?

I hear you about Olsteen, I have never liked his books when I scanned them at the Christian book store. His books and TV segments seem more like self help new age fluff than real meat like Derek Prince.

But I wonder how hard it is for them not to get caught up in it? I mean are there ANY preachers who are humble anymore?

I'll be honest, I can't even watch Joyce Meyer anymore. It makes me sick how EVERY message is about personal power or getting out of your rut or how God can bless you. Even her books seem really watered down to me- again, like fluff.

I'm not sure I can trust ANY of these so called speakers on TV anymore. It's like once they become "famous" they change. Their messages are more about keeping their popularity than about what the Holy Spirit wants them to say.

Is there ANYONE left? :idunno

Yes, there are some Godly men left.

Pastor Chuck Smith sr, Dr John MacArthur, Dr John Piper, and more

It may be discouraging to see apostate preachers, and many on TV, but KNOW that Jesus tells us these things must happen before He returns for His Church.

You can go here to hear some wonderful sermons:

I'll let you know when it happens. :heh

Seriously though, for every one gone off the deep end, there are dozens who have not. And I would think its in the hundreds, if not thousands. Many solid, humble preachers don't desire or have 'air time', so naturally we will never hear them. We only hear the most popular, the most outrageous, the most vocal, and perhaps even that of those like this, they were in it for great gain, from the start, even if it was never acknowledged to themselves. The heart is very deceptive.

"They were in it for great gain from the start"- That is a thought to ponder, because it is hard to fathom how ANYONE can come to know and love Jesus Christ, and then forsake Him and eternity for money:idunno. It must be that somewhere, deep down inside, they were after the money and the Gospel was the means to that end.

I think Charles Stanley is still hanging in there.

The sad part is, people are staying home more, there influence is becoming more important .

Wish it wasnt so. Does not look good, but God is God.
