:scratchI'd like for someone to explain how and why this person claims to "Talk to the dead". I'm watching this television show right now on Lifetime, and the reactions of these people is that she is correct in what she says.

Can somone please explain maybe what she is doing, so a simpleton like me can understand. (From a bible point of view)

I've asked my mother about this, and she says she "Talks to demons". I'm curious on how these people do this..

I think your Mom is right on the money! demons are deceptive, and people are fooled. The Bible does mention not to talk to the dead, and warns that you are only conjuring evils spirits. I don't have the verse on the top of my head. I'll look it up if someone doesn't beat me to it. :)

Deut. 18:11
[9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
[11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

There are ads for this new TV show on the walls almost every bus stop here in Manhattan. In a city that seems full of people who like to think they're smarter than the rest of the world, it's somewhat ironic that the network thinks it can fool these folks into watching their show... It's also really disgusting to me. From a secular standpoint - even for anyone with a passing interest in science - the very idea is stupid. From a Christian standpoint... Well, I live and work here and I happen to like living here. But I wouldn't be surprised (or upset) if God sent a hail of fire and brimstone on the whole place...

The commercials airing on Lifetime now proclaim that she is the granddaughter of Frances Glazebrook, a psychic/confidante of the young Queen Elizabeth.

She seems sincere, but she has been deceived. Especially if this is some kind of family trait.

I think we should pray for her. :pray

Along with Lucifer, a powerful angel, who was cast out of heaven where other "angels" who followed him.

Angels are more powerful and knowlegeable than humans.

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour Ps 8:5

What this woman is doing IS speaking with demonic angels who can surmise, guess, and have better insight due to their abilities.

They are liars from the pit of hell, always deceiving.

You know what I don't get? 1st Samuel 28. I can't tell if what Saul did was good or bad or whether 'Samuel' in that chapter really WAS Samuel or a demon and it's making my head flip OVER and OVER and OVER and-

Does somebody know?!

Saul went to a medium to have her conduct a seance to bring up dead spirits. absolutely BAD...ironically, Saul had rid the land himself of the witches and spiritists, which is why he had to go to Endor.

But he was desperate to hear from God...and since God was not answering him, he wanted to bring up the spirit of Samuel. Again, BAD.

However, God used this action to actually bring up Samuel, which terrified the medium because she did not really expect that to happen.

11 Then the woman said, "Whom shall I bring up for you?"
And he said, "Bring up Samuel for me."
12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, "Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!"
13 And the king said to her, "Do not be afraid. What did you see?"
And the woman said to Saul, "I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth."
14 So he said to her, "What is his form?"
And she said, "An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle." And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down.
15 Now Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?"

It really was Samuel, for he spoke the words of God.......

16 Then Samuel said: "So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? 17 And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. 18 Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. 19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines."
20 Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, and was dreadfully afraid because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all day or all night.

A demon would not have correctly prophesied the future, and nor would the Bible call a demon Samuel when it was not the real servant of God.
