Daniel 12:2 "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt."

What does it mean "everlasting contempt"? Is it God's contempt for them, or their contempt for God?

Contempt is in the 'eye of the beholder', IMO.

I read it as God's contempt for the wicked. However, I recognize it could be interpreted both ways.

Somebody wants to label me a heretic because I see it as God's contempt for the wicked, that I'm changing and adding to the word of God, lol. She won't even concede the possibility that it's not man's contempt for God.

Hmmm... interesting.

I guess to say it is God's abhorrance is limiting it then. Here we see they are an abhorrance to mankind, but it may also be to everyone; to God, to mankind, to angels and all of creation.

My point is that 'abhorrence' or 'contempt' is something that the observer experiences.

It does seem that hell becomes an object lesson.

Sort of like, "Remember what God did to them, lest you think His patience with sin to be infinite."

Daniel 12:2 and Isaiah 26:19 speak of the resurection of old testament saints at the end of the tribulation. Saints to everlasting life. Unbelievers to everlasting contempt to be resurected at the end of the millenium to be judged at the great white throne judgment.

Are you saying Scripture indicates that the everlasting contempt is limited? IOW, it goes on UNTIL the GWTJ? So, after the GWTJ, what will it (the everlasting contempt) be? Lake of Fire? So, Lake of Fire is NOT everlasting contempt?

Sorry, just a little confused on this area.

No, I'm not saying the everlasting contempt is limited. The lake of fire is an eternal state that all unbelievers will endure.
