If my kids want candy, I'll just go to the dollar store. I'd rather buy candy then have to search through a bag of it to make sure it hasn't been tampered with. And my kids don't eat much candy anyway. I'd rather just buy them a candy bar from time to time.

I vividly remember when I was a kid, a girl in my school was severely injured when she bit into candy that had a pin it it. I also remember LSD and other drugs put into candy.

Free candy won't lure me into having my children participating in a day that is filled with demonic activity.

Good point - I have the dubious honor of having lived in the neighbourhood of Deer Park Tex years ago when the so called "Candy Man" actually slipped poison candy into his own and other children's treat bags so that they would die and he could collect on a large insurance policy...

For years after the neighbourhood only gave out little coupons that could be redeemed for candy at stores

After many years the state of Texas manged to carry out the death sentence for this sicko Dad

Perhaps to provide a healthy Christian alternative for families with children - one without all the pagan aspects, ghosts, goblins, etc...?

Historically since the founding of America and our agricultural roots it has been common place to have any number of celebrations following the traditional Fall harvest season -

...so one could turn the question around and ask - why allow the commercialized version of the pagan Halloween holiday to spoil a traditional celebration of the harvest and a changing of the seasons - celebrations that go back to America's roots and even into OT times....

Also I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but our "traditional" Dec 25 "Christ-mass" has the date selection tied to Roman pagan celebrations...

And since Tom brought up Christmas........After recent research, I was shocked to learn the Pagan origin of Christmas and all the symbols used at Christmas. I have had to re-think EVERYTHING I have ever been taught and do a lot of soul searching through prayer. It is so amazing how satan has used so many things to decieve us....no doubt, he is the master deciever. Here are a couple of links well worth looking at:

If this is so then the correct date for the first Christmas is Tuesday 15th September 7 BC.

Actually, December is around of the time of Conception, not birth. Of course, conception is a good point to celebrate, especially in this case. But yes, Constantine placed a Christ Mass tradition to replace the existing pagan calibration.

Sorry - did not intend to divert a Halloween thread into Christmas - just that we all need to be well advised when planning and making decisions as to family worship practices.... various celebrations, etc

My own worst Halloween was when our local church decided to sponsor a "spook" house - complete with goblins, etc

Needless to say we are no longer members there

I don't mean to offend anyone here who does this, but I have never understood this, but why do Churches who profess Christ have to have Fall Festivals or Harvest Celebrations on or around Halloween?

To me it is condoning the Satanic day by just masquerading and disguising/packaging it under a different name. JMO.

My thoughts exactly.

And to the parents that are concerned about their kids having fun, getting free candy, or not feeling left out- is it really worth it? You are teaching your kids that it is ok to bend God's rules just so that you can have a little fun and not feel left out. I don't have any kids, but when I do they sure won't be celebrating Halloween. And I don't care if they feel left out. It will be a good lesson for them to learn that sometimes if they are going to follow the Lord they are going to feel left out. I want them to know that in our family, we will always do what God says, even if its not the funnest thing and even if its different from what everyone else is doing. And boy, we sure do have it hard here in America. There are young kids halfway across the world that are willing to give up their lives to follow the Lord(www.persecution.com), yet Christian kids in America are not willing to give up some free candy. That is absolutely shameful. And most of the blame should fall on the parents.

Thank you for the links above exposing these "celebrations" ..:thumb YESHUA has been showing me these "traditions of man" and their Babylonian /pagan/demonic origins for a while now.:twitch The Almighty , in HIS word, gave HIS own Feasts, called the LORDS feasts for us to celebrate..:nod.. they are not simply Jewish feasts but called the"LORDS Feasts.".
They are all pictures and shadows of our beautiful Messiah.:).

You are welcome Cheryl. :hug I could use any prayers I can get regarding this and my Mom. I've been trying to explain all of this to her and she thinks I have gone off the deep end and have become fanatical. She doesn't believe there is anything wrong with Christmas, a Christmas tree, etc. I even printed her off a bunch of stuff to read a week ago and she refused to read it and refused to believe anything I said. Last nite, I quoted her some Bible scripture and tried to explain a few more things and said she couldn't and wouldn't believe it. She keeps wanting to use the excuse, "That is what I've been taught my whole life" and "I can't believe all the churches through the years would celebrate Christmas if it was wrong". She keeps saying she WILL NOT give up Christmas or her Christmas tree, etc., etc.

I have been praying for her on this subject and today, for the first time, she said she would read the material I printed up for her, but she didn't think it would change her mind. My mom is a Christian, and I am trying hard to understand why she won't even listen to what I have to say. The only answer I have is that is because of satan.

Just because this is what we have been taught all of our lives and it is all we have ever known and believed, doesn't make it right or true.

Read Jeremiah 10:1-5 and see what those verses sounds like it is describing to you Waiting2go.

God has his Feast Days, and Satan has his. Unfortunately, man prefers to keep Satan's.

That was what I read her last night. She said she didn't interpret (sp) it the same way as me. I thought for sure those scriptures would open her eyes.

Kids getting dressed up to get candy is not worshipping Satan. Some people love to find the negative in everything.
