It's ok to celebrate Christmas preferably daily instead of once each year. It's become far less of a celebration of Christ's birth and more of what it is now to most folks. Teaching santa is a lie and lying is an abomination to God.

Just as the Jews have their yearly feasts to celebrate certain things about God, we may have a yearly celebration where we celebrate Christ's coming to earth as a human baby. There is **nothing wrong with this**.

The angels celebrated Jesus' birth and I see nothing wrong in Christians doing the same. In fact I think it is very right. If there's any wrong it's in how we celebrate. I like the Santa thing based on a real St. Nicholas, and if I had it to do it over, would do that with my children I think to explain the tradition within our culture. In the DVD, The Star of Bethlehem, the speaker identifies (based on the positions of stars during that time period) Dec 25 as the date the wise men arrived at Mary and Joseph's house and gave gifts to Baby Jesus, so that date is still connected with the birthday celebration even though it may have been 3-18 months after his actual birth. The hardest part is trying to keep the main thing, the main thing. Don't give up, even when/if you think you didn't do it well, the children will get more than you think they did.

Do you ever look at grown parents and notice how they not only persuade children but themselves on how you must believe in Santa at Christmas? I'm telling you folks, I think many people believe in Santa more than they do Jesus Christ! How do you think Jesus feels about that?
Burns me up! :tsk

Yeah. Any dose with reality with some people and their whole body would convulse and head would explode. It's easier to believe in what doesn't exist...
I never believed in SC at any time in my life.

I grew up believing in both of them. When I got old enoughto understand, Santa took a hike and was replaced by the generous attitude that I still have today. Jesus ties into that attitude, IMHO.

What a sweet analogy Amber Lynne. Santa is all about "taking" and Jesus is all about "giving". :hug
I am in such awe of people that knew Jesus all their lives, married a believer, had children and they both knew that introducing their children to Jesus was as important as teaching them to feed and dress themselves. (I don't know if that is you AL, but it is many on this forum).
I can only imagine living my life under those circumstances, how thrilling! But, I praise God everyday that He opened my eyes at age 39. (24 years ago) My kids were grown, I was divorced and my life was a mess, but here I am. :-)

:tsk Have you noticed that Santa sits on a throne, and is suppose to be everywhere at the same time? We know these are all different men dressed up in their Santa outfits. Also, I don't know if any of you noticed this but in the word Santa you can spell it Satan. You drop the n and put the n at the end. When kids realize that Santa isn't real, they feel like they have been lied to. Some may feel that Jesus might be made up too.

I have always told my kids that Santa is not real, but just pretend. The other week my 8 year old son was told off by the school head; apparently some parents were complaining to the teacher that my son was telling them Santa didn't exist. It gets even better.. it's a church school.. Unfortunately, most people there aren't believers.

I got this as an email and thought I would share..
Here’s the story behind the song:
About the Song
While at the mall a couple of years ago, my then four year old nephew, Spencer, saw kids lined up to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, he asked his mom, "where's the line to see Jesus"? My sister mentioned this to my dad, who immediately became inspired and jotted words down to a song in just a few minutes. After putting music to the words, and doing a quick recording at home, he received a great response from friends. He sent the song off to Nashville without much response, except for a Christian song writer who suggested adding a bridge at the end of the first chorus. My dad then asked if I wanted to record the song to see what we could do with it. I listened to the song, made a few changes to the words to make it flow better, and we headed to Shock City Studios. It was at the studio where Chris, owner and producer, rewrote the 2nd verse and part of the chorus... with goosebumps and emotions high, we were all hopeful and felt like we had something special. The demo was recorded in just under 2 hours and sent off again to Nashville... still no response. Then 2 weeks before Christmas last year, my cousins Greg and Robbie decided to do a video to see what we could accomplish on YouTube. The first day we had 3000 hits and it soared from there. We received e-mails, phone calls, Facebook messages from people all over asking for the music, CD's, iTunes, anything... we had nothin'. After a couple of meetings with Chris following the amazing response, we got serious. We headed back into the studio this past spring... this time with guitars, drums, bass, pianos, choirs... the real deal.... and here we are today. Getting iTunes set up, a website put together, and loving that thousands upon thousands of Christians have come together... remembering the true meaning of Christmas. Out of the mouths of babes come profound truths that many adults can not understand. Hopefully Spencer's observation will cause people all over to reflect on the love of Jesus, and that one day we will all stand in line to see Him. We are most thankful to our Heavenly Father to have this chance to share our music with you. Merry Christmas everyone.
