This thread is beginning to go round and round as one poster suggested.

I'm going to close it as at this point I do not want this to become an "I"m a better Christian" etc kind of thread.

We need to be concerned about this particular "celebration" as it DOES deal with evil things and the "dark".
As it is drawing near to the Savior's return, the promotion of "dark" becomes worse.

We need to pray for the Lord's direction in this. I would suggest going to the Bible and reading all verses that use the word "dark" in them. (Try the New Testament)

I found some great tracts at my local Christian book store to give out with candy for halloween trick-or-treat. They're inexpensive - about 10 cents each and they're geared toward kids. We don't get that many kids, so I bought about 40 of them. A small price to pay to reach even one young soul.

And, David NR - kudos to you! We all need to take a bold stand against the things we know are wrong.

Blessings to all.

We're ready! We ordered some tote bags that say "Jesus Loves you" and 100 Bibles. We put the Bibles, a Salvation bookmark, some tracts with puzzles, and candy in the tote bags. Last year it was very awkward trying to stick a Bible in each kid's pumpkin (they don't fit!) and I'd end up just handing it to them. The tote bags will be a big help.
One thing I didn't do was order a bunch of the small Max Lucado booklets to hand out to the Moms, those are awesome and now I wish I had gotten some, but they're more expensive this year. (some went up to $3 each!)
Say what you will about Halloween, it's an excellent witnessing opportunity, and I love to see the kids' faces light up when you hand them the candy and Bible! They think the candy is the best thing they're getting, and I know I'm giving them something a lot better and more important.

I also considered handing out Jack Chick's Rapture comic book, but it's got some violence in it so I wasn't sure. Maybe I should have gotten a few for later at night when the teens come out. Plus they're close to to $3 each. I could spend thousands on Halloween if we could afford it.

Tygerkittn, thanks for those sites. The one site has all kinds of great things to use for Christmas. I've started planning bags for the 35 houses on our street to either hand to them or leave with them - Christmas witnessing tracts in them :), candy, Christmas pencils etc. There are some really inexpensive bags and containers on one of the sites. This will really help with the cost.

It was Halloween and three vampires went into a bar.
"What will you have?" asked the bartender.

"I'll have a glass of blood," replied the first.

"I'll have a glass of blood too please," said the second.

"I'll have a glass of plasma," said the third.

"OK, let me get this straight, " said the bartender,
"That'll be two bloods and a blood light?"
