We don't have kids and we live in a building that the neighborhood kids can't get into for trick or treating, so Halloween is a non-issue for us. :heh

Oh, and I don't decorate my classroom for Halloween.. I skip it altogether. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day... name the holiday, I decorate for it. But not Halloween.

Halloweens influence seems to grow every year. I'm on a complete boycott now. No parties, no lights, no candy handed out.

I used to think it was an innocuous holiday...not anymore.

I agree on all points. :thumb

It seems like Halloween decorations are more wide sread than usual this year.
I would like to ask a question of everyone.
Does anyone else besides me believe there is a much stronger influence of denomic activity that can be attributid to the ever increasing interest in Halloween?

No I do not and I used to be involved in Occult, the real Occult where dark incantations were involved. I think sometimes we major on the minors. A few pumpkins and orange lights are not leading our children to hell (99.99%) of them do not even connect Halloween with the Occult but simply view it as a fun day to dress up and get candy.
Satan would keep us focused on fighting over "halloween" rather then focus on what really is influencing our children - the PC culture and the school system that teaches and the declining of morals in our society, TV, rap music, trashy clothing for girls. sex etc. THAT is the real danger not pumpkins and candy.

I like something my pastor said one time on this whole halloween protest issue. He said he wanted our church ( a Calvary Chapel ) to be known for what we believed in and stood for ( Jesus, the Cross, the forgiveness of sin, repentance, loving each others) rather then to be known for all the things we are against.

I think we will win more souls to Christ by telling them about Him and what He has done for us and how to accept Him then pointing fingers about pumpkins and having Hell Houses. I'm sure many of you will disagree with me, that's fine, but this is my opinion.

I agree and we are totally not participating on any level this year......

It's not so much those who are directly involved in the occult, as those who are easily influenced by the occultic things in every day life. It's becoming mainstream. Once that happens there is no going back.

Jesus wouldnt celebrate Christmas either...

this is true, but its not necessarily justification for celebrating halloween, either.

isn't it interesting how so often the christian population is more willing to uphold the things of the world and traditions of man instead of those things that God has said to set apart (including but not limited to OT feasts such as passover, etc.)?
i don't celebrate them (but i have celebrated passover at a jewish friend's house in the past...and would actually prefer that to easter. lol...), so i am not throwing stones, here, by any means...but.. when people ask me why i don't celebrate hallowen and get all huffy puffy because of the reason i don't, and then are the same people who insiste that we don't have to (or shouldn't) celebrate any OT feasts bc we are no longer under the law but under 'grace'...well...it just makes ya wanna go hmmmmm:scratch, doesn't it?

and yet the bible tells us in so many places to be separate from the pagan traditions and not to look like the world, etc. etc...

it just really makes me :idunno

this is true, but its not necessarily justification for celebrating halloween, either. I agree. I was just pointing out that the 'WWJD' argument shouldnt be used casually. Its an 'all or nothing' proposition...
