I think He does not tell us the actual day of His birth because we, as humans, tend to be so legalistic about such things...I think it would turn into something it was not meant to be. God coming to Earth is human form (yet sinless) is one of the greatest - if not the greatest - events in the history of His World. That is something we should remember and think about everyday.
That being said, however, I am glad that we take aside a season of the year to focus on that blessing. So much goodness comes from the Christmas season...I cannot imagine not celebrating it in some form myself.
But, to those who do not wish to celebrate Christmas: Go ahead and not. It's totally your choice and what you feel comfortable with. I harbor no ill feelings toward anyone who wishes to abstain.

I agree. Besides, we celebrate one another's birthdays, so why not celebrate the birthday of our Savior, even though we don't know the date of his birth? Even though the Bible does not give us the date, it does give us information about the circumstances of His birth, so God must have thought it of importance.

You've been around the block of religions
it gets old working for it doesn't it?
Welcome to free eternal life through the real Jesus! :hug
The experiences of going through many religions were very, very difficult. Imagine yourself being disowned by your family, forsaken by your friends, and going through life alone because you chose to stand-up for the truth. Plus I had to drop out of school because no one supported me. I believe these experiences are the reasons why I am quite hard & intolerant when it comes to pagan practices & celebrations. So please forgive me, hehe. Anyway, my life's great now. My family has accepted me as I am (I am the only Christian in my family - they're all Roman Catholics) and I have new sets of friend. God is indeed great!
And thanks for the hug! :thumb
Rosh HaShanah is around the corner!

We celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween...etc...my kids love them and I enjoy it also....AND my son is in kindergarten and I asked him how do you get into heaven...he told me that you have to believe that Jesus died for your sins!!!!! I teach them..Christmas is about baby Jesus...Easter is about Jesus dying for our sins...and halloween is just a time to dress up in funny costumes and get candy...lol...maybe I'm not as strong/good of a Christian as you all are...BUT...I just don't want my kids to have it like the muslim kids did in Austin's old pre-k class....they weren't even alloud to attend ANY party that was for these holidays...the kids faces looked sooo sad...I believe if you explain the meaning to them and teach them about the bible or lead them to someone who can teach them then they will be ok...i probably didn't make any sense...I'm not good at communicating what I'm thinking...

Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Matthew 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Why? What is in the name "Jahim?" May I know 'coz I do not have a clue. I just scrambled the words, Jesus Messiah, to form the name Jahim. It is not my real name.
If you want to know my denomination, I am a Fundamental Baptist. I only use the King James Bible, and I believe that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone. I am totally against doctrines that add works to faith for salvation.
I am sorry if you find my screenname offensive. I can change it. :heh

Here's the reason I asked:
As-Sirāt (Arabic: الصراط).also called Sirat al-Jahim (English: The Bridge of Hell) is, in Islam, the hair-narrow bridge, which according to Muslim belief every person must pass on the Day of Judgement to enter Paradise. It is said that it is as thin as a hair and as sharp as a sword. Below this path are the fires of Hell, which burn the sinners to make them fall. People who performed acts of goodness in their lives are transported across the path in speeds according to their deeds leading them to the Hauzu'l-Kausar (the lake of abundance).
Muslims who offer the obligatory prayers, recite at least 17 (or more) times a day the Surah Al-Fatiha, which is a supplication in which they ask God to guide them through the "straight path", this has been referred to by some scholars as a continuation (or precursor if you will) of the Bridge as-Sirāt (The straight bridge).
