:popcorn Some of the claims of what Halloween is to little kids going door to door at their neighbors homes made me think of the Salem Witch Trials... :popcorn

I hate those movies!! My friends go and watch them and I just don't see how anyone could sit through them. I have never watched them before, but please, watching other people being tortured and murdered is just not my cup of tea. Before I got saved, I probably would have been able to say that I have watched them all, but definitely not now.

I really pray that Jesus's return is soon. This world is getting so evil, its suffocating!

Your friends would be much better off watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"! :D

I understand what you are saying....but I have many in my family who do not believe...especially my husband....if I didn't take them trick or treating, then he would start having a problem with me taking them to church and teaching them the bible....so in some ways, I have to compromise....

That makes sense. Keep praying and being a witness. God bless.:hug

We are convicted not to do Halloween this year......Both hubby and I read the series "Gods and Kings" by Lynn Austin. Although this is Biblical fiction...it really dives deep into how the pagan culture was mixed with that of God's people during the reign of King Ahaz....and beyond, and how is offended God. No matter what label we put on it...no matter of "what is in my heart," or "claiming it for God"....the asherah pole in the temple was still an asherah pole. No matter of reasoning it out would change what it was/is. Halloween...under any name is not for God, and is not of God, no matter what. We have become very convicted of many items in our life, and this was one of them.

My kids understand....I explained the origin of "Trick or Treat", and explained that I don't want them representing the dead going from house to house wanting to be in search of sweets. I asked them, 'What if Christ should come for us, as we are in celebration of a pagan holiday? What if the King comes, and we are serving another idol, willfully? Acting out the dead in search of something? With knowledge of what we are doing? We could not even plead ignorance, because we know the truth." They agreed.

On the way home from work today, I stop at the Dollar Store to pick up some safety pins. All the cashiers were saying "Have a nice day and Happy Halloween." I wonder if the same store in 2 months will be saying "Merry Christmas." I tend to doubt it.:tsk

Not meaning to be disrespectful, but evil often is disguised as fun. I found that I couldn't teach my children about the Bible and still allow Satanic rituals into our lives without confusing them. I did not want to be the one to allow them to stumble. They are all adults now and it was a good decision on my part.

Same as with the December 25 Christmas. The reason why I really hate celebrating this winter holiday because of its Roman Catholic origins. Do you know how much damage this Santa Claus can cause to your children? By making them believe in Santa, you are destroying their precious childlike faith. When they realize that Santa is just a lie, your children will surely have a hard time believing in Jesus Christ... or worse, they will no longer believe in the Messiah. If this Santa thing is harmless, think again. :(

FROM A FORMER WICCAN'S POINT OF VIEW:

My friend who used to be a Wiccan was interviewed on "The Reformed Think Tank" about Halloween. He took calls on his experience in Wicca and Druidism and they covered the roots of Halloween with its symbols and traditions. Here's the description:
