Thanks for the BIG :hug!

Whats your opinion in this?

You're welcome for the :hug.

I don't believe that quote. That's not how I/we see it work in our culture. Christians know that the death and resurrection of our Lord are over-arching. Non-Christians have greater things to worry about than what they perceive to be Christmas.

I don't see it as either/or regarding celebrating Resurrection Day and Christmas. But that's me. We all have our freedom regarding "special days" we choose to observe.

eta - To be clear, I should only speak for myself, and I should have been more plain that it's not that your words threatened my observance of Christmas, but that they *felt* that you were threatening my freedom, the one I have in Jesus to follow my own convictions on the matter.

Btw - I come out of a spiritual tradition that doesn't celebrate the birth of Jesus (or anything about Him) so this is new for me. I AM FREE to celebrate His birth out of my gratitude and love for Him. And I want to and I will.

The great focus and emphasis on Christmas has hidden the real purpose and meaning of Gods of deliverance to mankind through His death and not His birth!
------
without the birth there would have been no death. It took the birth of God in human form to accomplish the gift of salvation. The Birth of Jesus is indeed a cause of celebration.

thats not the point that i was trying to bring across.

i brought examples of great celebrations by chrsitians and pagans alike on His birth. However, the christians do not promote the celebration of His death/ressurection to the pagans as much. Why?

AND yet, Jesus instructed to celebrate His death/ressurrection? :hat

I know this was for Betty, but I'll take this opportunity to say that I personally got your point. You are repeating yourself several times here. It will not change my mind. I won't be responding to anything else here.

See you on other threads! :)

Easter is the time we celebrate the death and Resurrection of Christ. It is widely celebrated in America. There are people who attend Church on Easter Sunday that do not come the rest of the year.

thats good to hear cos over here in the far east , Christmas is about santa, snowflakes, trees interbedded with nativity, carols, etc.

Its not so much that the christinas celebrate it BUT that the pagans offer to finance such celebrations in the square and the christians take up the offers wiithout much prayers!

Indeed, i wonder why the pagans do not fianace the celebrations of the death/Ressurection. Maybe the christian community is just projectting too much of the christmas culture while neglecting the good news of His death/ressurection....

BTW i came out of the celebrating of christmas :lol2

Not in public as with Christmas..... :(
Its easy for pagans to associate with births but the gospel is in the Death/Resurrection(Cross)
