My oldest is an avid reader -- mostly historical fiction, and we are pretty strict on what she reads. She's devoured the Laura Ingalls books, American Girl books, Sisters in Time, Boxcar Children, Happy Hollisters, Bobbsey Twins, etc. We're out of options! She is 9 but easily reads at a 5-6th grade level (probably higher), but we aren't looking for anything dealing with romance.
Any suggestions?

How about having her read about the women of the Bible. Have her read and write a report on Mary Magdeline, Mary the mother of Jesus, Sarah, Lot's wife, Rebeccah, and Noah's wife, and the rest.
It will show her how women of those times literally stood the sames tests we face today. It can teach her values, and she may even pick one as her favorite role model so to speak.
Just a thought. Hugs.

And add to this Around the World in 80 Days, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, The Little Princess, Sara Plain and Tall, Charley and The Chocolate Factory, Little Women, With Christmas coming up how about Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol? Oh and my daughter loved Great Expectations!!
If she is a good reader all of these will be fine for her. I think my oldest read 90% of these before she was in the 5th grade.

I was going to say the Christy Miller series, but that's probably more geared for a highschooler. My daughter read all of them, and they are wonderful. There's also those books, I don't remember the author, Love Comes Softly. There's a series for them, and they were made into movies.

I was looking up books for my daughter (8) and found the Elsie Dinsmore series. Haven't read them yet, but they sound good. Here's the summary for the first one -
Elsie Dinsmore is an endearing eight-year-old girl with several bewildering problems. She has never known her mother, who died when Elsie was a baby, and she longs for a close, loving relationship with her father. He, however, has sent her off to be raised at Roselands, his brother’s Southern plantation, where her teacher, Miss Day, harshly criticizes her and her cousins tease her relentlessly.
As Elsie learns to handle her problems, she begins to learn more about herself. And as her faith in her heavenly father grows, she learns what it means to be a child of God. The result is a story that inspires and challenges, and listeners will delight in how Elsie comes to depend completely upon faith in God for the peace and happiness she seeks.
