Whoa! I can't believe what I saw on TBN the other day. It was the MOST ridiculous thing I've ever seen. There were a bunch of ministers, men and women alike, standing around a table, covered in bills. Now, I didn't catch the whole thing, but it sickened me to no extent.
So they're standing there, with their arms outstretched, telling these people that God is going to bless them and take care of their debt, this and that, and a bunch of nonsense.
Did anyone else catch this load of... garbage? Whatever happened to us serving the Lord? And it's simply turned into a manipulation of His word. Now where's that "GROAN" smiley? :tsk:tsk

If they had one for a smiley choking itself, or sticking a finger down it's throat. Those would work in either case.

These are making merchandise out of the flock just as we were forewarned they would. How very sad. :tsk :ohno

:ohno Once a while back they had people send in their bills/debts and then the "minister" set them all on fire and told the viewers that their "faith" and their "pledges" would cause God to favor them and would take away their debt.

TBN has been doing this for years. Unbelieveably, when I was involved with the WOF movement, I would take out all my bills and put them on the table and "confess" them paid just like these nuts do! I was deceived, just like these people are and the bills only got paid by God's grace and my dh working lots of hours! The only people this works for are the televangelists themselves because naive, sick, desperate, and deceived people - who mostly can't afford to pay their own bills - buy into this confessing nonsense and send these frauds money. :doh

I was watching this "Praise A Thon" (I think that's what they're calling it) last night. It was very disturbing to watch. Very manipulative, deceitful way to raise money IMO...shameful for TBN to use such tactics. Jan Crouch was standing behind this hollering preacher all decked out in an outfit I could never afford, wiping "tears" from her eyes. Oh brother. He was screaming to go to the phone to be blessed. Ugh!

The last time I watched tbn they had a beg a thon going and Jesse Duplantis was standing up there telling everybody they had to send him $2,000. If they did not send that amount God would not bless them, but if they did send that amount God would bless them.
He said " I don't care what your financial situation is, If you send us $2,000 God will bless you. I don't care if you have to go down to the bank and borrow the money , God is going to bless you. But it must be $2,000.".
It made you feel as if you did not have $2,000 to send you were dirt.
