Living in Assumption

When I first moved to Illinois, we lived in a small farm town called Assumption. And coming from Southern California, I was often viewed as a stranger, or someone who did not have the right to be there in High School. In many small towns here in the Midwest, if you were not born and raised in their town, they treat you as an outcast or an invader. For me, it took awhile to start making friends in this town, and even then it was but a few. This got so bad, I ended up dropping out of school at the end of my Junior year. Shortly after that, we moved out of this small town, and into a bigger, more friendly town about 25 miles away. It was then I made many, many friends. I later got my GED and then went on to college after that.

I recently met a Christian who had also lived in Assumption. Although he is a bit older than I am, he knew many of my old schoolmates.

As we were talking, the Lord hit me with a neat relation here. I then told him of this relation.

People who choose to live without the Lord also live in Assumption. And like myself, many acquire a bad attitiude and end up getting beaten down and discouraged easily. I went on to tell him that it was not until I moved away from Assumption and into the Lord's city of Truth, that I had begun to really live. I then made many friends and went on to further my education in the real truth.

"See the relation here?" I asked him.

All he could say was, "Wow!"

He too moved out of Assumption and into a different city about 15 miles away. He too found a better life after doing so......

He too found the Lord.

"I never really saw it that way!" He said.

I explained that the Lord hit me often with these wonderful examples and lessons.

Not to degrade the physical city here, I will say that if anyone wants to learn the truth and the ways of Jesus, they too must first move away from assumption! The road leading out of assumption and into the truth of Jesus is often hard, narrow, and rather hard to find, but once you find it, you will then know which direction His golden city of Truth and deliverance lies! At a far higher altitude!

I for one truly believe the Lord placed me in the city of Assumption to later make this connection and learn this example! And the truth.

For any who may still be stuck in Assumption, there's many good movers in the world who will be glad to help you pack and relocate. And Jesus is the finest Mover of all.

Matthew 5:13-15

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
