A good place to look is download.com (http://www.download.com/).
I usually just use the password saver in Fire Fox.
One program that I fond is called Any Password (http://www.download.com/Any-Password/3000-2092_4-10414067.html?tag=lst-0-5) that has very good reviews and is free.

To avoid the need for password management software, just use the same password.

I've been online since the internet became available to everyone and have never had any problems using the same password.

SplashID works good for me.
I started using it when I had a Palm Pilot.

Since then, I have the desktop PC version.
Generates those crazy mixed symbol, number, letter PW's and I can print the list out for a hard copy in case I loose a HD or something.

I think they have a demo to try it out.

I don't use the same password, but my passwords usually are pretty similar. I use a standard string of numbers and then add some letters which remind me of something to do with the website in question.
