I've got five kids. My oldest and youngest are biological, while my three in between are adopted. Pretty much since birth, one out of the hospital, one at 2 months and one at 9 months.
Here's what I find just so odd. My daughter (who's now 13) at age 3 1/2 had an imaginary friend named Kelly. My youngest, who's now 3 1/2, all of a sudden, has an imaginary friend named Charlie. Where it came from I've got no idea???? He came up with this out of the blue tonight at bedtime...
Why is it that my two biological kids feel the need for 'imaginary friends', while my adopted children never even thought of it???
My 9 year old has always taken care of my 8 year old, (they are 7 months apart)and my 6 year old who has special needs, is looked after by the 8 year old (who have the same birth mother).
Am I reading too much into this????

My son (15 now) used to have a house-full of imaginary animals. My daughter (11) had a friend named hero, I use to have watch were I sat or set a place at the table for her friend. My youngest dd hasn't had a friend, she's 8 now.

I don't why some children do that, but thanks for taking me down memory lane. It brought a smile to my face.

I think at 3 1/2, many children have imaginary friends. I believe this is common. If they doing this at age 10, then I'd worry! varies per child.

(sidetrack-->> when my son was little he was petrified of rabbi's.. he was afraid they'd come into his room, and of course his older brother and sister would torture him about this and dress up like one in the dark!.. he'd yell, "No Rabbi, No Rabbi!"):lol2

My daughter had a gaggle of them. None had names, they were known as "The kids", sometimes there where only a few, other times there were 100's.

When we would go shopping and there were more then 2 or 3 "kids", she would say they were on the roof of the car.

When the "kids" got into trouble, which was often, they had to stand in a shower.

We are glad she turned out OK, we were worried there for awhile.:fear:pound:pound:pound

I think it's fairly normal.

when I was little, my Raggedy Ann and Andy were "real"... I had a fit if they were dirty and had to be washed, and watched them in the washer and waited for them to come out of the dryer... talked to them, "Fed" them... took them everywhere!

And, I had an imaginary friend.. Elliot.... as in the big dragon... LOL

I had an imaginary friend named Harry when I was three or so. He was a rabbit and lived in the swamp. I can still remember him and can visualize his house. Don't have any idea where he came from.
