We do not know whose beginning, nor when that beginning was. Only God knows.

Therefore, discussions on the age of the earth are redundant. Let's all wait for Jesus to tell us HIMSELF, if we are still interested then. We may be too busy enjoying a new heaven and a new earth, the New Jerusalem, and the presence of our Father, and Jesus, for the dwelling place of God is with men.

Remember HIS presence in Eden, so HE will be again.

Praise HIS holy name! :thumbup

Is the age of the earth vital? Well I could see how it wouldn't be in certain situations. But when it comes to people trying to place death before the fall it creates a big problem.

Do you only mean the death of humans or also of animals and plantlife?

Humans and animals. The fall caused the death and decay of all creation.

There is no Scripture that clearly states that there was 'no death before the fall'.

As far as I can tell, that notion is the result of certain interpretive assumptions.

1 Corinthians 15:21-22
21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

So animals will be resurrected? Animals shall be made alive?

I like to think it's related to "The beginning of Man" our story, a living binding contract between man and God.

No, it is not to me. The sacrifice of our LORD is vital and we have that.
But, we are endowed with a mind that asks questions and there is nothing wrong with doing so until we forget that some things are not for us to know as yet. We must be patient until that day when all will be revealed.

In the meantime, here is the invitation:

But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you." Job 12:7

Death came with sin, therefore, before sin there was no death.
