Rev 21:12 And had a wall great and high, [and] had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are [the names] of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

This can be serious or fun. I'm curious what your thoughts are. We're in heaven...right? Satans gone for good...right? Who's left that's going to sneak in uninvited? :thinking

Maybe it's not to keep someone from sneaking in-----maybe it's to keep us from sneaking out. Remember we are all children of God's & well kids will be kds.....Just kidding, I don't know I never really look at those verses like that before, although you do have a point.

The gates and walls of a city are its glory and New Jerusalem will be glorious indeed.

There is a new heaven and new earth. vs 1- we now see ths capital of heaven, New Jerusalem.. it comes down out of heaven ( already existed.. remember during the millenium the "church" live around it-chapt 20:9, Is 24:23, Zech 14: 9-11)
This is the tabernacle of God, his throne within. and in vs 12 on the description of the beauty of New Jerusalem-- it is HUGE 500 miles (equal to 2 million square miles of ground space!)

awesome!

My Bible Study Bibles .. says the wall is for security and protection. The gates show accessibility. Irsael will be present for it is SAVED. The gold and precious stones could be "earthly" that has been glorified (1 Corinthians 15:50-54 is used as a cf.
