How much memory?

Why two seperate HD's?

Is a seperate sound card really necasary? The onboard audio has 8 channels.

I would rather have a GeForce 8 Series video.

Are you going to run Vista or XP?

I run 4 hard drives on my system.

I'm not familar with the Turtle Beach sound card.

I'm going to start with 2 gigs of memory, the board will hold up to 16.

I have the santa cruz card, and coming from a "creative" background I was blown away by the sound difference. The best part is the price. You cannot find a better value in sound cards than turtle beach!

{end of shameless plug}

That really is a nice looking card.
What software do you use with it?
It sorta looks like a "demo" version of AudioSurgeon comes with it, and a full version is available for $29.95.
I couldn't find if it would convert to MP3 anywhere, which would be important to me.
Any Idea off hand?

It comes with a full version software. I have had no problems with being able to do anything with their products. Some of the better out to be sure. More importantly the money you save with their stuff, if need be can be applied towards a different software package if needed.

I would highly recommend trying the creative/turtle beach sound test for yourself to see and hear the actual difference. Movies, and games will come alive like never before, and music, well you'll be blown away.

I don't like to recommend too many things to people, but this is one of the ones I bark loud about. I was thankful when someone told me about them, and I try to pass that along.

God luck!

I got to looking at the speakers with my set up and I don't think they are going to work out all that well with that card.
That card is set up to allow each speaker it's own slot it looks like, while those creative speakers plug in to the woofer.

I think the turtle beach card may represent a better surround sound, but don't you have to have each individual speaker amplified using that card?
And I like the idea that it allows you to patch into a stereo system too, that could prove real useful.
+ it has the imputs that the creative card doesn't.

I admit I don't know a lot about trying to set up a sound system like this, I've always just had on board with a pair of amplified speakers.

My eyes are about to bleed from reading everything I can find about this.
I do want a good sound system for making cd's and watching movies, but I don't want to break the bank in the process. ;)

What speakers are you running with yours?
Is yours a 5.1 or 7.1?

I've got a set of 5.1 logitechs. These are the ones here

http://www.etech4sale.com/Etech4sale_LOGITECH_Z-640_SPEAKER/SP-Z640/partinfo-id-116489.html Again, great price and sound.

I haven't dabbled much with my systems in the last year or so, so a major update for me is coming. Nonetheless, TurtleBeach will forever be a part of my system. :)

How is it? I was gonna get one but then ended up getting an Acer AL2216W at office depot. Will turn out cheaper in the long run. Tis a 22" wide screen too. 5ms response time. Seems to run pretty good.

It had a sharper picture than any of the viewsonics they had. Oh well.

Haven't gotten it together yet, I'm still bogged down trying to sell my house.
Everybody wants it, nobody has any money. :doh
