And I didn't even know it.
I presented my son with the problems I have currently encountered with his youth pastor. The discussion (I was discussing and trying to calm down the irrate, red in the face defensive youth pastor when I said Rob Bell is not a good guy), this was in the middle of church in the foyer on sunday.
My son is 16 almost 17, and has a great relationship with this youth pastor, went hiking, play video games together, trying to support each other etc etc.
When I showed my son these video's-

and my son realized that he was being taught Rob Bell's breathing excercises and how 'yoga and zen buddahist' it was, my son grabbed the hood of his hoodie and pulled it down over his face in embarrassement and his whole body recoiled. He couldn't believe he was taught that and didn't 'connect' the two, he just thought it was kinda stupid.

My husband and I just about jumped outta our skin we realized that it was taught to our kid in youth group, and that satan had really a hold of this church.

It's just sick. I explained what was happening both by satan, and the deception and the movement.
I don't know what's going to happen now. Going to talk to the church elders who have been 'kicked' outta the church, the old fuddiedud's according to those who like this stuff, and us who didn't know any better.....

The New Age Movement has been moving into our mainstream churches for awhile now. Its sad that the ones called to teach (at any age group within the church) has not recognized it.

Let us know what your elders have to say about this. When our churches showed the video of the PDL back in 2004, we all should have seen it. I personally never went back to the one I saw it in. I didn't feel comfortable and it was my first time to visit it. I was looking for a good church to attend. Well that was not a good one, even though it was one of our top mainstream denominations.

2 Timothy 4 ... we need to stand on the sound doctrine we've been taught for many many years.

Yes meeting is tomarrow night, they elders have known something was terribly wrong but many are not computer savey, and I can tell you honestly, it has been this board that opened MY EYES to this and have passed all the wealth of information from this board to these people who have basically been kicked out of the church they built 40 years ago because they won't 'get with the program' of the emerging church.
Now that I have something to offer, these video's the lighthouse information, some of the books that authors have written in warning, I think we can group of organized people who will either 1. try and educate others 2. leave and go to another church that doesn't have these kinds of trappings

The church has gone from a membership of dedicated membership down to less then a third of people left. Many babies of christianity just learning, or people who are just innocent of this movement and have payed little attention.

I am praying, going to study the book of Timothy, Jude. Reading some books about it, but mostly just listening to what the Lord Jesus Christ instructs through the bible.

Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. This board is a blessing. :candle

I remember being taught meditation techniques at different points by different teachers
throughout some of my school years (mid-seventies through early eighties).

There was a lot of the "close your eyes, see the candle, feel the warmth of the candle" stuff.

Fisher-- I am sorry this is in your church. It is not surprising though.

Rob Bell is one of the worst prominent false teachers today and attracts the youth like fly paper.

There are a couple of thread on here regarding Bell.

Ken Silva's website www.apprising.org is filled with numerous commentaries on Bell that are excellent.

I would also recommend getting "Faith UNdone" by Roger Oakland.

You might get a box of them (12 gives you a discount) and pass them out to elders/people . It is super informative, using God's word as it's backbone of course.

What is Nooma?

Faith Undone - the emerging church - new reformation or last day deception, the following facts about Rob Bell were presented:

Bell, a graduate of Wheaton College (the same as Billy Graham), is the producer for short films called Noomas (derived from the word Pneuma, meaning breath or spirit.) In his Nooma film called Breathe, Bells states: "Each day we take around 26,000 breaths ... Our breathing should come from our stomach, not our chest." :tsk:tsk
