I thought I would put this up as an ongoing thread about how to put together a highschool transcript. It will be a learn as you go kinda thing, and if you have anything to add, please do so. :hat I'm in the process of doing this myself, and I thought it might help a few others.

There are several ways of putting a transcript together, and different colleges prefer different things, but I have found that most prefer a one page transcript. That is, they want everything on one page instead of all grades on page and achievements on another page. Also, I have learned - by accident- that you don't need to keep semester grades. You can have one end of year grade on your transcript. If the form you are using is broken down into two semesters per year, then whatever grade they received at the end of the year is what you'll put for both semesters: if they got an A for the year, then you'll put A for both semsesters. If you choose to do semester grades then you'll go ahead and put what their grade was for each semester.

One thing you will need to do is figure grade point average (GPA). It's not really difficult, but it is a bit time consuming. I'll put that info on later. If someone has a good and easy way of doing it, then, please add that info here.

I would be interested in any information. I have a 15 year that is not doing good in public school. I already hs 2 and told him if he doesn't pull himself together than I'll hs him too.

Also, I know here, the christian homeschoolers hold meetings to help parents organize classes for teenagers, transcripts and dipolma's. It might be possible with other homeschooling groups.

The current issue (Fall 2007) of The Old Schoolhouse magazine has some helpful articles about homeschooling during the high school years, graduating and preparing for college, including getting transcripts ready, etc.

Thanks for starting this thread, Lady Jedi. My oldest has begun high school this year and the transcript thing is a bit nerve-wracking.

A great book to read on this subject is Jeanne Gowen Dennis' Homeschooling High School. She has tons of forms in there, as well as information.
