New To The Board

Hello,

My name is Paul and I am new to the board. I used to be in the Air Force, but unfortunately I was medically retired this month due to a mental disorder. I've been through a lot these past 6 months. I moved twice, spent time in jail, and lost my career due to my mental disorder. I believe God has been with me this entire time, even the times I turned my back on Him. Now, I need His love and grace more than ever. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should move back home with my parents or continue to live in DC. I want God to make the choice for me or at least guide me in the right direction. I have a job opportunity here in DC and I plan on giving it my best for the interview. If you will pray for me, I would be thankful. I am looking for Christian fellowship and this board is a good start. I have read some of the posts in the prayer request and I'm very glad to see our brothers and sisters in Christ caring and praying for one another. I am very thankful I found this board when I did.

Hi Paul and welcome! I live close to DC. If I were you, I'd stick around as the job opportunities here are really good. But pray and do what you feel God wants you to do.

I finally learned that when God wants to get my attention - He does! So don't worry about decisions. If you do not hear one way or the other then He is leaving the choice up to you. Hope that helps!

I always tell people a little story that seems to help- I tease that I think I used to be 6 foot tall but God had to bop me on the head so many times to get my attention that I am only 4'11" now. LOL :pound

It's wonderful to see how we can really mess up and then God loves us enough to bring us back on track. Most (if not all) of us can see that in our own lives to some degree or other. Hi Paul, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles these last few months. Life is never easy, it goes up and down like a roller coaster and you never know when the next downhill slam is coming. But at least you are in the right place. I was reminding of one of my favorite christian songs when i saw your screen name. It goes like this:

"Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you're my God."

I love that song, it speaks volumes about what our main focus in life should be, to worship God, to bow down our earthly desires to his desires and to proclaim to the world that he is our living God. If you ever need to talk or vent or anything, send me an email. God gave me to ears and it wasn't just to hear myself talk....
