View Full Version : Question about Rick Warren philosophy

I was reading an old thread back from August and it made me think about something. In that thread they were talking about legalistic churches and how they were wrong. Many call legalistic churches fundamentalist churches. A while back RW said the number one danger to America was the fundamentalist church. I am seeing some scary things happen here.
All of a sudden if you want to honor God by watching everything you do (not to earn salvation, but just to honor Him), you are called legalistic and wrong, but if you want to walk around and say their is no sin once you are saved and we have freedom to do what we want you are mainstream.
This is frightening to me. I think the philosophy of RW and others like him have dug deeper in the heart of churches than even we thought.
My question is this, would you rather be called a fundamentalist or free spirited? I think I'm really comfortable with being a fundamentalist!

Opps I didn't mean for this to go here! It should have been placed in the board with all the other RW post.

Rick Warren is a wolf in sheep's clothing so he can keep his free spirits to himself, I want nothing to do with them. Just give me the Word of God and I'm good, I have no time to play games with silly spiritual counterfeits created by man.
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

I consider the 40 days of Purpose another fundamental legalistic plan because churches are forced to follow it line by line or get kicked out of the fellowship.
Rick's rules are just as rigid as scripture.
He is doing exactly what he says he is against.

This is sad.... What are we coming to as "Christians" when we start looking like the world... Our salt is worthless if we are just like everybody else.. AND you can't just say well free for all i'm covered now -- that's like spitting in God's face for what He did for us. The truth is not always fun to hear; but it always produces a harvest of righteousness! Praise God for keeping those of us that REALLY want the truth on the straight and narrow path! :)
