With all the stuff coming out of Annapolis, and just getting through Thanksgiving with Christmas approaching are you finding it hard to fall back in your normal homeschooling routine?
Any tips suggestions or ways you are supplementing your normal routine this holiday season?
For our Bible & History Class we followed the Annapolis Metting for about 3 hours by the time we got done viewing today so that was ok, then we did Math, and Reading/Writing, which only took 30 minutes.
I feel like we are so off track/lagging behind in work, I don't know-maybe it's just me and I am just overwhelmed.....

You are not the only one, the week of thanksgiving we only had 2 days of school. The kids did awesome today and actually got all their work done. I felt bad because I was trying to follow all the information on Annapolis at RR.
There are days when we don't get everything done and I'm learning not to fret about it, last year I was so stress. I do still school them in the summer not as much, so we make up lessons then or catch up, however you want to look at it.
I do have a weekly schedules of lesson plans. On busy days, we will not do penmanship, journal writing and put off their reading classes till night. I'm big on the math, language arts and spelling. The history and science are next in line. Health, we are behind on lesson plans which is okay because that can be a lesson's in the summer. Then there is Art, music days.
It's easy to get overwhelmed :hug, something else I do at times. I will move bible study to night so the whole family can learn.
Nannette, I was thinking today, if we were called home today how concerned would Christ be if I skip a subject. I feel I am doing his will with hs our children and trying to raise our children in him as he told us to do. I was feeling bad because of how many times I sneaked on RR to see what was going on at Annapolis and that popped into my head.
Hope that helps :hug

Kellie,
You got a good point, I don't think math and health and writing is going to be his concern, however teaching his word is one class I know I will be held for especially when I came across this verse:
Matt 5:19
Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven;but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
So I know learning God's word is important, and since I am doing most of the teaching as dh does as much asking as the children do of explaining what it means and where is this and so forth, I know I will be held accountable for them in that area.
Talk about God putting it all in black and white, all you got to do is open the book and read it. Amazing.
BTW- The christmas card to you all from us went out today in this mornings mail, and you'll know the envelope when you see the kids and I drew a chritsmas tree on it, and decorated it and put a star on...Kinda like an art thing......

We like to start our school year in January so we've pretty much wrapped it up at this time of year. We don't have "official" lessons during the holiday season. We take the week of Thanksgiving off and don't start up again until January. We take this time to clean out and organize bedrooms, decorate, cook, and enjoy the holidays with family and friends. :)
By the time January gets here we are excited to start a new year of lessons. We usually take a month or so off around April or May (to enjoy the spring weather) and then we have lessons all through summer (because it's too hot here to do much else LOL).
The traditional "school" schedule has never worked for us LOL! That was one of the main reasons we started homeschooling. :)

We do that too aside from school work daily, all cleaning and cooking get counted for Home Ec and time spent doing so. We count any trips to plays and seeing lights during the Holidays as Field Trips we learn every day something.....Cooking can count double too as Math when reading recipes and adding and mixing ingredients, I count it all and try to add it to my records, we have very liberal homeschool regulations here in Indy, but in the future I see us as having to prove what we teach, they ain't sneaking up on me, I am registed have our own school name and number, and a record of everything my children learn. Even a program HomesSchool Tracker, that helps keep a record of attendance, hours spent and grades and over GPA.
So every little thing I feel is a learning experience even something on history channel, I count it.
But I do enjoy the lazy days and days off we take - yes we do take days off where we do nothing .....That's the nice part, and sleeping in, not having to deal with the hustle and bustle...That is nice!

I'm finding it very hard to get back into the routine!! Not only because of the Holidays, but also because of the "sickness" going around. It seems like one of us is always feeling cruddy:ohno
