I just had to post about this cause it happened so close to where I live; no more than 5 miles.
How ridiculous is this. And then the part in the article about the person selling the applications. It's such a shame that money has overtaken our society. Glad to be free of that weight around my neck. But this is just becoming the norm, and will just be swept under the rug.
I agree with you Butterfly-:doh

i really didn't see anything involving theft, except maybe the guy that sold the applications for 20 bucks... it seems more of a desperate small riot, all for a credit limit... all i can really do is chuckle about this because in all honesty all you can do is laugh in amazement

I kept wondering where they were getting the phrase "free money". I am guessing that the $850 to $4,000 credit limit is a credit on the account (like if you overpay a credit card...you have a credit balance) but I dont know how that would be considered stealing it. I a consider that being dishonest, but not stealing.

I don't get that either. Applying for a credit card and then actually getting the credit is not free money. Anybody who used those credit cards will have to pay that money back with interest.

It says ALL that applied I take that to mean if Micky Mouse applied for credit he would get it

The store was running a promotion in which it would give away $10 to anyone applying for its credit card,
I think this is the free money. $10 plus a credit card, woo-hoo.

I see the "free money" this way. PPl were being approved for the credit card that shouldn't of been approved. So these ppl were getting a large credit limit and so they charge the card up figuring since they don't really qualify for the credit card they can get items for free basically by using this credit card and the bank won't make them pay it back. Which I'm sure the bank will go after these non-qualifying accounts no matter what
