Hi everyone, I'm having alot of kids over for Christmas week who are picky eaters, does anyone have any sure hit dinner menu ideas?

Breakfast and lunch aren't an issue, but I'm stumped for a week's worth of dinner ideas that the kids might actually like to eat!

Thanks in advance.

I have some picky eaters, too.

One time I made porcupine's balls and called them Pokemon balls. The kids ate them because of the name. I've done that several times. With chex mix, we have reindeer turds, puffs of snow (marshmallows), reindeer food, etc. As gross as it sounds they ate that up too.

try the breakfast dinner, you can't go wrong there :)

but if not, this is my picky eater son's favorite:

you can change the celery to something else like peas or broccoli and forget the green pepper and onions as some kids find it too strong for their taste. although you can try it and see they will eat it anyway.. Just cook a grill cheese sandwiches to go with it in case they don't like it.

oh and crock pot recipes, you can't go wrong.. I think just about any kids like anything cooked out of a crock pot..

Topeka,

Porcupine balls are a great idea, what kind of sauce do they like on them?

Your idea about the funny names is priceless, the grosser the better!

Cd,

they love Mac n Cheese, so I know they'll love the soup too, good recipe!

Thanks for the good ideas, they're a great start! :thumb

Macaroni and cheese, lots of fresh mixed fruit, Cheese pizza, hot dogs, tacos, and fish sticks with tartar sauce. My kids love tostadas because they make crazy faces on them with the toppings. Most kids love ranch dressing or catsup.

That mac soup serve 20 people! Your average big pot will not hold all that so you may have to reduce the recipe by half or get a big soup kettle or dutch oven (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_oven) (you can freeze the leftover, just be sure to thaw it out overnight in a fridge so the mac noodle don't get too mushy from you stirring too much when heating it up).

There is a new cookbook out by Seinfeld's wife.. Deceptively Delicious -- she talks about hiding veggies in good food your kids' will eat... It sounds neat i am waiting for my copy from the library. Might be worth checking out!

The last two nights have been a hit at our house for our 5 kiddos. They can be really picky, and not real appreciative of our efforts.

Last night, I made homemade pizzas. They all had a job....one placed the dough on the pans, another spread the sauce, and another grated the cheese. They made one with extra veggies for dh and I.....but they ate an entire 9x14 inch pan of double cheese themselves. It was a hit....no one complained, and everyone ate.

The night before that, I made sausages and scrambled eggs with cheese....kept those warm in the oven while I made pancakes. There was nothing left....I used two packages of sausage, 24 eggs, 1/2 brick cheese and made 30 pancakes. No leftovers, and everyone was happy.

French toast in another hit, as is waffles. You can serve those with fruit on the side. I make salmon cakes and cut them in strips afterward.....the kids think those are fish sticks(ha ha).

Thanks for this link. They have some pretty good easy to do looking recipes, my kids never seem to get enough and always find something to complain about with dinner....this is a blessing to have.

Thanks.:hug
