My family has left the church, as many elders and mature Christians have left, due to some mean things the pastor and youth pastor has done to people of the church and refused to apologize. The church headed down the Rick Warren path when that first book came out, and hasn't looked back since. When the Rob Bell video's started popping up in church service and then behind my back in my son's youth group, I confronted the youth pastor and it got a little ugly.
I wondered why so many people had left the church, and I got a huge face full of what they had gotten, and it wasn't nice or pretty.

It looks like some of those who left have found other church homes, but are not real comfortable yet, some have tried churches and found them emerging also and don't know where to go.

What I believe one of the Sunday school teachers and counsel members is wanting to do is holding church services in their home, a bible study with some praise and worship, because they have a piano and a large comfortable basement. I trust these people, their families are the ones who have been pushed out of the church because they fought the emergent movement.

I have not been able to bring myself to go to another church, I just don't trust anything or anyone yet. We have done our own kind of service watching people like Paul Washer services on the internet with just our own family in our own home.

Nothing will sway my walk with Jesus, nor my families maturing. I continue to watch here on the boards, scrutinize and preview sermons, study the bible and read biblical doctrine with a wary eye.

Only Jesus and the Bible are steadfast, trustworthy and true 100 percent of the time. The rest you have to judge with faith in Jesus in your heart.

Come soon Lord, this world grows weary, and your servants wish to worship at your feet.

I can understand where you are coming from. The emergent stuff is everywhere like a plague.

Thank God that you have this kind of discernment, eyes wide open. One of the things I'm noticing beyond the infiltration into what used to be solid churches and Bible teachers, is the total lack of discernment by a HUUUGE percentage of Christians. I just can't believe what people are falling for. I never could have foreseen such ignorance and not caring one iota about the truth of the Word of God. This is a rhetorical question but - - - Why can't people see it?
