I usually have most or all of my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving. This year, I just finished on Tuesday night. It was a great way to finish. My daughter and daughter-in-law really needed towels and those were the last 2 gifts I needed to pick up. My husband had to work late so I asked my daughter if I could borrow one of her kids so I wouldn't have to go alone. Her 9 year old daughter Maddie went with me. Maddie is a carbon copy of her Mom at age 9. Obnoxious with a strange sense of humor and she can be hilarious. I told her we were going to buy towels for her Mom and her Aunt Donya for Christmas, but she has to keep quiet about what we picked up. She told me, in all seriousness, that was going to be hard. So, i first took her to eat supper and she chattered non stop. Then we went to Kohls to buy the towels and we looked around for awhile after she helped me select the towels. Now Maddie is a shoe horse. She loves shoes and she told me her favorite store in the world is Shoe Carnival. We just happened to be right by a Shoe Carnival so I took her there. She couldn't help drooling over the cute shoes. I asked her which ones she would buy if she could. She chose and I let her try them on in her size and bought them. Of course, that means I need to buy something for each of the other 4 grandkids so they don't think Madison is my favorite.:doh When we got home, she was jabbering away to her Mom about all we had done and had talked about, and she clamped her hand over her mouth and turned around and looked at me when she almost told her Mom about the towels.:tape She told me that it's going to be real hard to keep the secret until Chrisatmas day. I love my grandkids. And I'm not the least bit jealous that Keylan has wrapped all presents and I've barely even started. :crying
