Now churches don't have to be built on the foundation of Jesus our Savior, crucified and risen, or the bible or ... anything. Now we can have churches based on interests or hobbies. We can watch football with other believers and get brief messages during halftime about how to be a better person and have a better life. :doh:doh:doh

At no point in this interview is Jesus ever mentioned. But everyone is having a great time.:tsk

These pastors are no doubt nice postive well meaning wolves who are leading people away from Christ by filling them up with soda pop instead telling them about living water.

It had to happen with all the "competition" among the emergent churches. Now they have to come up with the new and different to attract the unsaved. The main trouble is they are teaching them how to "live a better life" here, instead of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ Who can give them forgiveness of their sins and ETERNAL life.

Yes, it is a common expression where I am that means currently. In the end, he will be thrown into the lake of fire.

I think someone once said of the US and the UK, two nations separated by a common language. :heh

The sad part is all these seeker friendly (usually purpose driven) churches have belief statements on websites that say all the right things. You really can't tell until you have visited a few services. We were searching for a home church about a year back after moving and I was woefully ignorant about current seeker friendly movements and the effect PDL had had. We visited several and they all said the same things on their websites. They all claimed to have a passion for reaching people for Christ. Out of desperation we started attending one, but the church sermons never really meant much, and we never were asked to open the bibles we brought. It seemed like the only sin really talked about was not attending a service or failing to invite someone to church. This forum really helped me pin down what was going on because I felt so uneasy but could not put my finger on anything outright wrong and I didn't want to be a church hopper or judgmental. :doh The websites sound good, but the churches are lukewarm and so self satisfied.

We have churches here in Omaha that will talk about the Nebraska Conrhuskers on Sunday Mornings

but those same churches here WONT talk about Bible Prophecy

which is ironic considering so many churches across america are fulfilling 2 Timothy 4:3-4 and Revelation 3:16

2 Timothy 4:3-4

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Revelation 3:16

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

I guess "love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength" isn't a priority. Why can't they tape the game and watch it later. Then they could fast forward through the commercials.

This thread brings to mind the following scripture...

Neither be ye idolaters, as some of them; as it is written [see Exodus 32:6], The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. 1 Corinthians 10:7 (Darby)

Not good!
