PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida, Dec. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- With a 4 – 1 vote, the St. Lucie County, FL School Board approved a graphic, explicit, risky Condom Ed Curriculum. Only Troy Ingersol had the wisdom and courage to reject this outrageous curriculum. Kathryn Hensley, Carol Hilson, John Carvelli, and Judi Miller all followed the recommendation of Planned Parenthood's Michael Panella to support the following:
For 4th Graders, the curriculum instructs teachers to: "Read students the following statement of fact: 'The AIDS virus is transmitted only through blood, semen, and vaginal fluids; people most commonly contract the virus by using needles contaminated with the blood of someone who's infected or by having sexual intercourse with someone who's infected.' Ask if anyone was surprised by the facts."

"Longworth, who was one of only 5 private citizens to review the curriculum, read the above curriculum quote to the board prior to its vote. Longworth comments, "I was appalled to learn that 9 and 10 year olds will be exposed to sexual content. In teaching this to 4th graders, the school board will rob children of their childhood. I have not met one person who is in favor of teaching sexual content to 4th graders. Even some supporters of this curriculum think this goes too far." Longworth, who has already picketed one school board member's house, plans to publish flyers of the school board members next to quotes from the curriculum. Longworth promised, "We're going to let the community know which board members voted to teach sexual content to 4th graders. The community can then decide whether the board members are fit to make decisions about their children's future."
Satan wants your kids!
He wants them to be robbed of their childhood and indulge in sex. He likes seeing the emotional and physical consequences that occur when immature children are "taught" about what they "shouldn't do". He wants them to "do it", REBEL and act on that new curiosity.

Parents need to be informed that is for sure and speak up. The teacher's that are being forced to teach trash will be thankful.

I couldn't even read the entire article! :panic
Instead of teaching these innocent kids about you know what, why don't they teach a little something called MORALITY? :thinking
I think the little red dude with the horns is working overtime nowadays :tsk

Ok, at the risk of having stones thrown at me.
I am totally against them teaching graphic sex ed to 4th grades (they are still babies) but in this day and age, kids are very sexual because of lax parenting. Not saying all parents but I am amazed what parents let their kids watch, which I believe introduces them to their sexuality at an earlier age. Which causes them to want to experiment. Then you throw the school wanting to expand on the sexual arousal, trying to "safe" guard our kids, in their line of thinking (wrong but understandable). Then you create a very sexual environment and you telling the kids ok don't have sex but chances are you will so this is how to protect yourself. So my view, you are giving them the green light.
I know of a child who was pregnant at the age of 12, she didn't fully understand how she got pregnant. She understood the act not how it produces a child. Does that make sense?
It all begins at home, maybe the schools should make a class for parents called, "Common sense & responsible parenting 101".

One thing I have noticed is that too many parents toss their responsibilities on the schools. When parents do that, they must be willing to accept what ever the system decides is best for their children. Strange, they don't even care enough to find out what is really going on, just scream at the teacher.

Okay.....now I can say what I really wanted to say in this thread: Abstinence programs face rejection (http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?p=355094#post355094)
IMHO sex should have NEVER been in any school. EVER. That should be something taught in the home by parents, and only by parents at the appropriate times. I get so doggone mad on this subject. They have taken something very private and special and turned it into something as everyday and routine as brushing your teeth.
Then there is the media adding insult to injury....then society wants to gripe about it, but do nothing about it. Yet Society let them do it in the first place. Parents should have put their foot down in the very beginning when it first started being taught. Now it has spiraled out of control.
I remember having a sex ed class in school. I was in 3rd grade. I even remember thinking why do I want to know about this? I even asked the teacher why we had to learn this stuff and I told her it was embarrassing talking about it. I told her it was gross.
3rd grade and that was almost 40 years ago......:tsk
Now (from the other thread) they attempted to get an abstinence program going, (of course it was rejected), what a tangled web they have woven....it is not surprising that it was rejected.
Shouldn't have gotten this far....but....to quote Southern Lady
One thing I have noticed is that too many parents toss their responsibilities on the schools.
You're absolutely right. I believe that is a BIG BIG factor that just adds even more insult to injury. :rant
